本课是北师大版《初中英语》九年级第四单元，话题是“太空”。本课是本单元的第二课，在第一课介绍太空有关知识的基础上，以对话的形式，对中国的太空事业进行阐述。根据教材设置，首先要求学生要对对话中的内容有大概的了解，同时，根据对话中出现的人造卫星的名称，要求学生记录年份，最后进行知识输出。

1. 课前准备：调试光盘与课件、给学生分组、为学生布置预习作业等；
2. 教具学具：光盘、大卡片等。
◆ 教学过程

Step1. Warm-up
1. Let students ask each other about the details about Chinese space achievements.
2. Get students to look at the pictures and figure out the names of these satellites.
3. Take a look at the picture and let students speak out their knowledge at the Chinese Space Programme.
Step2. Listening
1. Listen to the radio programme and tick the things mentioned in the listening in Ex. 2.
2. Listen to the tape, and fill in the timeline. Students should pay attention to the numerical details in the material.
3. Listen and circle the correct answers in Ex. 3. Students should underline the evidence corresponding to their choice in the listening material.
4. Summarize the learned words and the information talked about in the listening.
5. Read after the recording.
Step3. Role-play
Let students imagine they are a Chinese Scientist giving a speech to teenagers in America. Tell them about China’s space programme.
Example:
Hello, everyone. My name is …. It’s very nice to be here. Today I want to share with you something about China’s space programme.
Step4. Consolidation
1. Teach the new phrases in the box in Ex. 5. Attract students’ eyes to the word into.
2. Complete the sentences with the correct form of these verb phrases.

Step7. Homework
Write a short passage (50words).
In the passage, you should write what it takes to become an astronaut.
