Key In Game Vocabulary:
Attack (US: Offense):
Attacker/Forward (general)
Striker - Centre Forward
Inside Forward
Try (Placing ball behind the goal line)
Kick Off (KO)
(the 1st kick)
Foul (when a player breaks the rules)
Conversion (After scoring a try, the team can score extra 2 points by kicking ball through goal posts)
Defence: (US: Defense)
Defender (general)
Full or Left/Right Back
Centre Back Sweeper
Pass (Throwing the ball backwards to another player)
Forward Pass (Illegal Move, Ball is throw forward to another player)
Tackle (take the ball from an opponent)
Drop Kick/Goal (Kicking between the goal posts during play)
Goal: Goalkeeper
(Goaly – for short)
Scrum (8 Forwards bind together and interlock to fight for the ball)
Knock-on (Illegal Move, Ball id dropped/lost, moves forward and is collected by another player of the same team)

Areas of play:
When has the ball crossed the line?
When the ball or player carrying the ball, touches the line, no matter how light a touch.
Attacking half (Forward of halfway line including 10m and, 22m and 5m lines)
Defensive half (backwards of halfway line including 10m and, 22m and 5m lines)
Extra In Game Vocabulary:
Yellow Card: A player commits a foul.
Haka: New Zealand 'All Blacks' pre-game war dance
Touch: Ball going outside the field lines
Offside: A player is caught forward of the imaginary line between the two teams
Red Card: Shown to a player if he/she commits a serious foul
High Tackle: Illegal tackle made above the live of sholders.
Turnover: One team looses possesion as the other team gains the ball.
Sent off: A player is shown a red card or asked to leave the pitch.
Late Tackle: Illegal Move, Tackling a player who has already passed the ball.
Wheel: Scrum moves through 90 degrees
Penalty Kick: Free kick at the goal posts, 3 points if successful
Sin Bin: Player must remain for 10mins after received a yellow card
Line Out:
Both teams line up to catch the ball thrown in from the side-line.
Ruck: A ruck is formed when the ball is on the ground and two opposing players meet over the ball.
