本单元Reading 介绍英国著名医生John Snow是如何通过考察分析、探究的科学方法，发现并控制“霍乱”这种传染病的。通过课文学习，了解科学发现的全过程及其严密性；学习描述性文体的基本写作框架。

学法指导：
1、独学（30分钟）
（1）Read the text fluently and loud.
（2）Learn the detail of the text, such as why,how, the process, etc.
(3)用双色笔将独学中存在的问题做好标注，并填写在“我的困惑”栏中，以便带入互学阶段讨论解决。
2、对学（10分钟）对子间相互检查预习结果讨论预习中的疑问。
3、群学（5分钟）学生带着在对学中未能解决的问题在大组中进行讨论解决

It was caused by drinking dirty water. It caused a lot of deaths in the old times in Europe.
Cholera:
It begins in the stomach and a severe case can lead to death without immediate treatment.
And the victims died very quickly from a loss of liquid after severe vomiting(呕吐) and diarrhoea(腹泻).
