感恩节是美国和加拿大共有的节日，原意是为了感谢上天赐予的好收成、感谢印第安人的帮助。每年11月的第四个星期四
(1621年9月，“五月花号”轮船载着102名清教徒及其家属离开英国驶向北美大陆，经过两个多月的艰苦航行，登陆上岸，定居。第一个冬天，由于食物不足、天气寒冷、传染病肆虐和过度劳累，这批清教徒一下子死去了一半以上。第二年春天，当地印第安人，给了清教徒谷物种子，并教他们打猎、种植庄稼、捕鱼等。在印第安人的帮助下，清教徒们当年获得了大丰收。首任总督为此建议设立一个节日，庆祝丰收，感谢上帝的恩赐。1621年11月下旬的星期四，清教徒们和马萨索德带来的90名印第安人欢聚一堂，庆祝美国历史上第一个感恩节。男性清教徒外出打猎、捕捉火鸡，
他们将猎获的火鸡制成美味佳肴，盛情款待印第安人。感恩节吃火鸡的习俗便流传下来了。女人们则在家里用玉米、南瓜、红薯和果子等做成美味佳肴。人们围着篝火，边吃边聊，还载歌载舞，整个庆祝活动持续了三天。)

（每逢感恩节这一 天，美国举国上下热闹非凡，人们前往教堂做感恩祈祷，城乡市镇到处举行化装游行、戏剧表演和体育比赛等，学校和商店也都按规定放假休息。孩子们还模仿当年印第安人的模样穿上离奇古怪的服装，画上脸谱或戴上面具到街上唱歌、吹喇叭。散居在他乡外地的家人也会回家过节，一家人团团围坐在一起，大嚼美味火鸡，并且对家人说：“谢谢！”。
疯狂的购物月从感恩节的次日（星期五）开始，这一天即被称为Black Friday（黑色星期五）。之所以叫这个名字，据说是因为周五这天一大早，所有人都要摸着黑冲到商场排队购物）

随笔或反思
六年级内容本身比较难,加上我校学生水平有限,所以本节课我采用了PPT教学,利用生动活泼的图片帮助学生了解学习,加深记忆,学生反应还不错.本节课不足的是,机械操练的内容偏多,学生还是被老师牵着走,没有很好的发挥他们独立思维问题的能力,主要还是他们基础不是很好,教师在今后的教学过程中应该注重他们口语的表达,让他们有更多”说自己想说的话”的机会.
