Step One: Review
1. Review the sentences in unit 5.
Talk about the Ss’ weekend with the following questions.
How was your weekend?
It was great/ good/ not bad/ just so so/ bad/ terrible.
Step Two:
Introduce the main sentences in unit 10.
1. Explain the title of unit 10 .
Ask the Ss : Where did you go on vacation?
Write the answers on the Bb.
Explain the past tense of the verbs.
2. Show the key words and phrases:
stayed at home / went to New York City / visited my uncle / went to summer camp
went to the mountains / went to the beach / visited museums
3. Ask the Ss to practice the sentence with the phrases:
Where did you go on vacation?
What did you do on vacation?
Step Three: New lesson.
1. Section A:
1) 1a :Match the activities with the pictures.
2) 1b: Listen.Number the people in the pictures[1-5].
a. Listen to the tape and read after it one sentence by one sentence.
b. Check the answers.
c. Check the tapescript.
3)1c: Let the Ss talk about the five people in the picture. Then act out by a whole group.
4) 2a: Listen. Match the person with the place.
a. Talk about the picture on the right, ask:
Who is the girl?
Translate the words in the paper.
Give other examples about “guide”.
b. Listen to the tape and read after it . Explain the difficult points.
c. Check the answers.
d. Check the tapescript.
5) 2b: Listen again. Fill in the chart.
Listen again. Check the answers by asking the Ss.
Practice the question sentences and their answers.
6) 3a: Learn the past tense of “be”.
Make the Ss clear about “was” and “were”.
Check the answers.
Explain “un-/in- ”
7) 3b: Pairwork:
a.Ask the Ss practice the sentences with “How was…” and “ It was…”
