The Growth in Fast Food
Today more snack bars than ever before can be seen in all residential areas and downtown. Chinese food is always sold side by side with foreign one;for example, noodle, rice and fried mutton are served on the same table. Why does fast food enjoy so great popularity?
The reasons are of different types. First of all, having snacks is economical of money compared with formal meals. The cost of less than 100 yuan only reflects the 0rdinary level of a formal meal, while as much as 10 yuan is enough to satisfy one's appetite at most snack bars. Next, convenience weighs heavily. In a snack bar,you don't have to pretend to be graceful, and you may also take your meal away, which helps save you much time. Last, diverse features of fast food form a good attraction. For example,in Xi'an, Shanxi food along with Sichuan food and typical food in Northeast China are within your easy reach.
Obviously, fast food adds great convenience to our life. With its further improvement in all sides, snacks will surely be enjoyed by more people from all walks of life.

参考例文:
The passage shows that fast food develops fast nowadays because it is economic, convenient and there are kinds of food meet different flavors. It will become more and more popular in the future.
However,I don't think eating too much fast food is good for our health. Fast food may cause illness. I admit that fast food is cheap and convenient. You can fill your stomach easily without paying too much. And you don't have to pretend to be graceful when you do want to. Different flavours meet different tastes. You can decide what you want to eat. But every coin has two sides. Fast food also has troubles. The most worrying one is whether fast food is clean or not. In order to gain a greater profit, some snack bars try every means to reduce the cost. Some even adopts illegal means. As is reported on TV and newspaper, many snack bars use some dirty refined oil to cook the meals. It is not easy for the customers to be aware of what they are eating. Usually there will be lots of bacteria in such kind of oil. These bacteria can cause deadly diseases, such as cancer. The customers become victims of the snack bars. Maybe you will ask,What about KFC or Mc Donald's? The sanity equipments are good in these restaurants.
My suggestion is that you'd better eat less. Foods in KFC and Mc Donald's contain much fat. They also cause health problems.Eating too much fried chicken, fried chips, hand burgs and something else may make you fat.
In a word,I don't suggest people eat too much fast food. You have much to concern about when you are having fast food. To keep healthy,we have to pay attention to our habit of diet.
(二)阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文.
One morning, a friend of mine set the breakfast table beside a huge window, which overlooked the Tred Avon River. Suddenly she leaned forward(向前倾) and cried out, “There is a goose out there!”
We saw the figure of a large Canada goose, very still, its wings folded tight to its sides and its feet frozen to the ice.
Then in the sky, she saw a line of swans. They flew from the top of the sky downward and at last landed on the ice. My friend was on her feet, with one unbelieving hand against her mouth. As the swans surrounded the frozen(冻僵的) goose, she feared that the poor goose might be pecked(啄) out by those great swan bills.
Unexpectedly, those bills began to work on the ice. The long necks were lifted and curved down (弯下) again and again. They went on for a long time. At last, the goose was free and standing on the ice. And the swans stood nearby watching. Then, as if the goose was crying, “I cannot fly”, four of the swans came down around it. Their powerful bills chipped off the ice stuck in its feathers. Slowly, the goose spread its wings as far as they would go. Seeing the goose could freely move its wings, the swans flew slowly into the sky.
This is a true story. Every time I think of it, I can’t help asking, “If so for birds, why not for man?”

范文
The passage reminds us to help those who are in trouble and shows us helping others is a good virtue, which one should treasure.
Life is not all roses. No one knows when he or she will be in trouble. The story above reminds me of my personal experience.
There was a time when I performed badly in my maths. It seemed that no matter how hard I tried, I still failed. Upset and disappointed, I fell ill and had to be in hospital for a couple of days. Hearing what had happened to me, Lily, my monitor, came to hospital, helping me with my schoolwork. It was with her aid that I recovered soon and improved myself in maths rapidly. I felt really grateful for what she had done.
From my experience above, I’ve learned that the sincere help between people is of great significance. Only with the care and help of others, can we get out of the difficulties in life and fly again like the goose in the story

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英文短文。
On August 26, 1999, New York City experienced a torrential downpour. The rain caused the streets to flood and the subway system almost came to a stop.
Unfortunately, this happened during the morning rush hour. Many people who were going to work were forced to go home. Some battled to call a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the storm bravely, walking miles to get to work.
I happened to be one of the people on the way to work that morning. I went from subway line to subway line only to find that most service had stopped. After making my way through crowds of people, I finally found a subway line that was operating. Unfortunately, there were so many people waiting to board the subway that I could not even get down the stairs to the platform. So I took the train going in the opposite direction, and then switch back to the downtown train. Finally, after what seemed like a forever, the train reached my stop. Then I had to walk several blocks in the increasingly heavy rain. When I finally got to my office, I was wet through, exhausted and discouraged.
When it was 5:00 pm,I was ready to go home. I was about to turn off my computer when I received an email from Garth, my Director:
I would like to thank all of you who made the effort and eventually reported to work. It is always reassuring(令人欣慰), at times like these, when employees so clearly show their devotion to their jobs. Thank you.
