2013年11月28日星期四 Teaching Plan Designer: Lu Muqin, the Second Middle School of Taiping (陆慕琴 太平二中) Contents: Memory Corner (Unit7,8A) Teaching material: English Textbooks for Junior High School of Guangzhou Lesson type: Reading Teaching time: 40 minutes Student analysis: The students have a certain foundations in English and they have had a rudimentary knowledge of reading skills. In this lesson, they will further consolidate the reading skills by reading three short articles about how to improve students’ memory. Teaching objectives: After reading the passage, most students will be able to: 1) Understand the meaning of the new words. 2) Know how to make their memory better. 3) Have a better understanding of reading skills about predicting, skimming, scanning and digesting. Teaching Approaches: Student-centered teaching; Task-based learning; Activity-based teaching (individual work; pair work; class work)    Teaching Aids: blackboard; a multi-media computer system Teaching procedures: Steps Purpose Step 1: Leading –in 1. Ask students questions: 1) Do you have a good memory? 2)What are you best at remembering: pictures, words or numbers? 3) Do you want to test your memories? 2. Play games Step 2 leading in 1. Have students learn some new words with the help of pictures. 2.Have students match the meaning of the words. Step 3 pre-reading Ask Ss to look at the introduction, the title and the first sentence of each article on page 99.Then circle the correct answers (B Before you read P98) Step 4 While-reading 1. First reading Ask students to skim the passage and match the main idea to the right person. 2. Second reading: Ask the students to read the article and choose the correct answers :( Multiple choice questions) 3. Third reading: Ask students to finish the spider chart in pairs. Step 5 Post-reading 1. Have the students listen & read the articles together. 2. Discussion: how to remember things more easily? 3. Retell the articles with the help of the spider chart. Step 6 Homework: 1. Imitate the tape pronunciation, intonation and read the text aloud after school. 2. remember the new words; memory,corner,lose,improve,mention,method,spelling,mind,silly,mile,letter,worth,spell,unless,trouble,list,step,cycle 3. Writing: How to remember English words? To lead in the topic of the whole reading. To pave the way for the coming reading comprehension. To know what is going to learn in the text, and stimulate students’ interest To train the students' ability to search for core information and be familiar with the main idea of each article. To develop Ss’ reading skill---scanning; get the detail information. Be more familiar with the text; To pave the way for the coming discussion and retelling. Imitate the tape pronunciation, intonation. To exchange their understanding of the text& enable them to have a better understanding of what they have learned. To spur students to consolidate what they have learned. 3
