Unit 2 life in the future I. Unit teaching aims:  1.To develop the students’reading ability, learn to use some reading strategies such as guessing, skimming and so on;  2. Inspire the students to imagine the future life. 3. Develop the students’ reading ability and understand the details about the text and make a comparison among life in the past, life at present and life in the future. 4. Get the students to think about the problem we’re facing now and in the future what the world would like Ⅱ。Skill goal 1. Predicting the good and bad changes in the future. 2. imagine the alien creatures. Ⅲ. language point : 1. Making predictions Do you suppose that…?            Suppose that…                   I wonder if… Do you imagine that…?            I imagine that… 2. Making conjectures about future Is it likely/ unlikely that…          Possibly … It is possible that …               Most likely … I’m sure…                       Probably… Suppose that …           Perhaps …          Maybe … 3. Vocabulary: constantly, remind, vehicle, carriage, bathroom, temple, private, settlement, impression, constant, jet, previous, tablet, capsule, opening….. This is similar to ..., but it means ... Well-known for ..., his parents’ company,called “Future Tour”, transported me safely into the future in a time capsule.. Ⅳ。Grammar The P.P. as the Attribute and Adverbial 1.过去分词作定语(The past participle as the attribute) I followed him to collect a hovering carriage driven by computer. Tomorrow you will be ready for some visits organized by computer. 2.过去分词作状语(The past participle as the adverbial) Worried about the journey, I was unsettled for the first few days. Confused by the new surroundings, I was hit by the lack of fresh air. Focus:To intensify the reappearance to make Ss master the words ad grammar through some exercises. Ⅴ.Teaching procedures & ways教学过程与方式 Step I Revision Check the students’ work. Step II Warming up Talk about how many changes there have been in the last one thousand years. And what changes we might expect to find in the next one thousand years. Do a life style investigation. Compare life in the past and life at present, let Ss have some impression about the changes. Step Ⅲ Pre-reading Get the Ss to discuss about the problems that human beings are facing today. (such as pollution, all kinds of shortages.) Make a prediction about the future. Which problems may be solved, and which will still be there. This part will prepare the Ss for the text. Step Ⅳ Reading Give the students a couple o f minutes to look through the whole passage and get the general idea. Tell the students to read the text silently and then ask for the main idea of the text on the slide show with their partners. Encourage the students to express their ideas. Let students pay more attention on the different between feature and present. Step Ⅴ Comprehending Get Ss to compare life at present and life in the future. Find out the changes on several items. Try to distinguish which changes are good and which are not good. StepⅥlearning about language This part is a consolidation of the words and grammar in the text. The students will learn the usage of modal verbs. First try to make the students clear the functions of modal verbs, with the help of the practice this part. StepⅦ using language This part from Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing to train students to practice their skill , so from this exercise teacher should encourage the students to think how to have a quality life. II. Teaching aids: tape recorder, pictures  Teaching Methods: 1. fast and careful reading, 2. Asking and answering question activity 3. Individual, Pair work & group work 4.      Discussion.
