Unit 3 How do you get to school?
The first lesson
Teaching purposes:
1. To introduce Ss to the unit goals: talk about how to get places.
2. To set the scene, test Ss’ knowledge and increase their vocabulary.
Teaching importance:
1. transportation ways
2. master the curriculum words ( train, bus, bike, subway, boat, car, kilometer, minute, river, village, villager, bridge, year, dream, stop, ride, driver, live, cross, leave, far, many, new, every, afraid, true, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, hundred, by, between, like )
3. master the useful expressions

Teaching Procedures
Step 1 lead in
Show pictures about fruits. Or show some real fruits before students.
Lead them to say: “what’s this? “ and “what’s that ? ”

step 2 teacher and students’ activities
1.Pair work
To classify the words. Fruits and foods. Contest how many words can they speak. Then write them down in the chart.
2. listening .
Play the record. Help the students try to listening and circle the words while listening to the sentences.
3. listening again
Lead students to finish the form in 2a and 2b according to the teaching tasks. And try to remember the words.
4. words division
Countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

1. Group work
Ask students to make a list for his or her own picnic food. And then finish some exercises in 4a.

2. guide to some of the students’ activities. Ask some good writing students to read their shopping lists before class.

Homework
Make a list of picnic foods. Write a short passage to practice the present tense and the food words.
