2021成都高考英语阅读理解、完形填空三月课外小练(12)答案 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A.B.C和D项中,选出最佳选项。 Chocolate soap is supposed to be good for the skin. But it’s not so good for the tongue. Unfortunately for the US soldiers of World War II, the chocolate bars the army gave them tasted like they were intended for use in the bath. In the army’s defense, it wasn’t trying to win any cooking awards. In fact, it specifically ordered that its chocolate bars not be too delicious, so soldiers wouldn’t eat them too quickly. These bars were created for survival, not taste. “They were awful,” John Otto, a former army captain in World War II said. “They were big, thick things, and they weren’t any good. I tried ’em, but I had to be awful hungry after I tried them once.” As unappealing as the chocolate bars were to some, others liked them. Samuel Hinkle, the chemist who created the chocolate bars, pointed out that the number of bars made were far greater than the army needed. “It soon became obvious that the generous American soldiers were sharing their valued possessions with their foreign friends, whether soldiers of other countries or local citizens.” The bars turned many hungry Europeans into friends of the United States. “People wanted them,” said Otto. “You’d give them to kids. In some places they were very hungry. And they sure helped relax people about American soldiers.” Otto said he never saw a European turn his or her nose up at the chocolate. “It was food,” he said. “At that time, everyone was very hungry. I saw German kids standing outside the U.S. army kitchen. They weren’t begging, just standing there very politely. When we were done, the kids would eat the food out of the garbage. They were that hungry.” Other Europeans did not see chocolate until well after the war ended. “We didn’t see any Americans where I was,” said Elizabeth Radsma, who was 25 years old when the Germans occupied her country, the Netherlands. “Even after the war, we saw only English. Maybe the Americans gave out some chocolate in the big cities, but we were only in a small town. Before the British, we saw only German soldiers. But chocolate? Don’t make me laugh! Maybe in my dreams!” A soldier in the field might have responded “Be careful what you wish for” — and then gratefully bit down on a chocolate bar, the only food available for miles. 1. What was the American soldiers’ attitude towards the chocolate bars? A. They were delicious. B. They tasted awful. C. They were necessary for survival. D. Too many of them were produced. 2. Which of the following is true according to the passage? A. The US soldiers used the chocolate bars as bath soap. B. The US soldiers did not have enough food during World War II. C. The US army produced more chocolate bars than necessary for its soldiers. D. European people regretted eating chocolate bars from the US soldiers. 3. The underlined expression “turn his or her nose up at” probably means ________. A. reject B. demand C. receive D. smell 4. Why does the author mention the German kids’ story? A. To tell how friendly the American soldiers were. B. To describe the hunger in post-war Germany. C. To prove German kids could be very polite. D. To show how much they were eager for chocolates. 5. Elizabeth Radsma never saw chocolate during the war because _________. A. the US soldiers handed out all of them to people in big cities B. the German soldiers kept them all for themselves C. the British soldiers didn’t share them with the local people D. the US soldiers never showed up in the small town she lived in 【参考答案】1—5、BCABD 阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。 Tang poetry is so excellent and of such a large sum that it is a precious cultural heritage of Chinese civilization in ancient time.It appeals so many people all over the world that more and more Tang poems have been translated into other languages, mostly into English.Nevertheless, since the translatability of poetry has been the most controversial(引起争辩的)issue in the translation circle, whether a Tang poem is translatable or not is now still in debate. An American poet Robert Frost ever said,“Poetry is what gets lost in translation.”In this sense, something in Tang poetry will get lost after being translated into English. Here comes the untranslatability(不行翻译)of Tang poems in English translation.Tang poetry is the harmonious unity of beautiful sound, wellbalanced form and implicit sense so that it is very difficult to translate them into other languages satisfactorily.English is intonation(语调)language while Chinese is tone language so that they are dissimilar in sound;English spelling words are alphabetic writing while Chinese square characters are ideographic(表意文字)so that they are dissimilar in form;English was born and develops in western cultural background while Chinese in oriental so that they are dissimilar in sense.Based on the differences above,a conclusion is made naturally in the article that in the process of translating Tang poems into English, there is some untranslatability, namely, sound untranslatability, form untranslatability and sense untranslatability. In fact, the study on the untranslatability of Tang poetry still has a great room for development,as it remains an unsolved problem. In this case, however, talking about the untranslatability of Tang poems in English translation is not against the translation work of Tang poems but for the better translations of them. 1.By the passage we can know that________. A.Tang poetry is a kind of new culture existing in China B. Tang poetry is part of precious cultural heritage of Chinese civilization C.Tang poetry can't be translated into English D.Tang poetry can only be accepted by people from China 答案:B 依据文章第一段第一句话...it is a precious cultural heritage of Chinese civilization in ancient time可知,唐诗是中国古代文明的贵重的文化遗产,是中华文化的组成部分。 2.The features of Tang poetry different from other languages are the following EXCEPT________. A.beautiful sound B.rich words C.abundant form D.extensive sense 答案:B 依据文章其次段内容中所提到的与英语不同的特点有sound, form和sense,文章中没有提到word。故答案选B项。 3.Chinese is tone language while English is________. A.intonation language B.tone language C.alphabetic writing D.ideographic language 答案:A 依据文章其次段第五句话English is intonation language while Chinese is tone language可知,汉语是语音文字而英语则是语调文字。故答案选A项。 4.The attitude towards translating Tang poetry into other languages is________. A.appositive B.favorable C.ironic D.passive 答案:B 依据文章最终一句话talking about the untranslatability of Tang poems in English translation is not against the translation work of Tang poems but for the better translations of them.可知,作者的态度是赞成的。 【2021高考复习】完形填空 Growing up,I always dreamed of being a professional skater. After years of hard work,I am living proof that dreams can come true.
