The new Spider- Man movie is about to start and you’ve got the snacks: soda and popcorn. Food is part of what makes the movie fun.      Just as the lights go out, you catch a slight smell of …tuna fish?! You turn your head, searching for the source. Then you spot him: A couple rows back, some guy is enjoying a tuna fish sandwich. How’s he get that in here? You wonder. Then you remember how much you paid for your snacks.      What invites the unwelcome outside food is probably the price. Why pay $5 for a bag of M&Ms when you can get them for a dollar at the corner store?      Earlier this year, a Michigan man decided to fight for his right to snack. Joshua Thompson is suing(起诉) his local theatre after it banned outside food. He argues the ban breaks a Michigan law that prevents business from charging extremely high prices. However, most legal(法律的) experts believe Thompson has little chance of winning his case though he does have a point: 85 percents out of every dollar of treats a movie theatre sells is pure profit (纯利).      The truth is that movie theatres are more in the snack business than the movie business. A huge part of the ticket income goes to the Hollywood studio. This makes sense, since the studio have to pay the costs of movie production and advertising. But that often doesn’t leave much cash for the theater, which also has its own running costs. If customers stopped buying food, owners would have to raise ticket prices even higher.      Of course, there’s another reason to think twice before bringing food into the movies: It’s against the rules. Breaking those rules can be unpleasant consequences, too. Some theatres will kick you out if they catch you. Even without the threat of punishment, we should follow rules all the time-----out of respect.      Here’s a good idea: Eat before the movie. 72. What is the topic of the text?   A. The pleasure of enjoying snacks. B. A Michigan man’s fight for his right   C. Movie theatres’ ban on outside food       D. Bad manners in movie theatres. 73. What do we know about Joshua Thomphson?   A. He broke a Michigan law. B. He is likely to lose the case.   C. He thinks cinema tickets are too expensive. D. He was forbidden to have snacks at the theatre.    74. In Paragraph 5 the author mainly explains ________.   A. how movie studios work with movie theatres   B. how movie theatres reduce their operating costs   C. why Hollywood studios must pay high costs   D. why snack sales are important to movie theatres. 75. Hoe does the author feel about bringing outside food?   A. It is unacceptable  B. It is convenient C. It is great fun D. It is lawful.  参考答案: CBDA 22. There are several ways from which to choose for you to keep your kids safe in your neighborhood. But the first step to keep your child safe in your neighborhood is to know your neighbors. Knowing your neighbors can save you a lot of worry. It lets you know that the car that has just driven down the street belongs to “the yellow house on the corner”, or the truck that has just driven by the playground looks unfamiliar, but the guy in the passenger seat resides two doors down. It’s these simple things that keep you from going_out_of_your_mind whenever you see someone driving by where children are playing. But you shouldn’t just know what they look like. The next step is to know them well. What do they do?How do they act?You might be OK with them driving by the playground since they live in the neighborhood, but are you OK with them being on the playground? Knowing your neighbors solves several things. First you find out what kind of people they are. This helps you know if you should let your child go out in an area where they gather. Let us face it: you do not want your child to play around people or people’s children that curse (咒骂) or hit each other. Sometimes you have to protect your child against your own neighbors. Knowing them also makes them know you. Being neighbors is an interesting thing. You might not like them or have the same views as them, but we all usually protect those that we consider our own. If you know your neighbors, they know you. They are more likely to look after the child of the nice lady down the street in the brick (砖) house, than the people, in the house on the corner, who no one ever sees. 54. This passage is mainly to tell us________. A. how to keep your child safe in the neighborhood B. how to set a good example to your neighbors C. how to get along with your neighbors D. how to teach your child to protect himself 55. If someone resides two doors down, he________. A. studies at the same school with your kid B. often comes to the neighborhood to offer help C. lives in the same neighborhood as you D. likes driving the truck around the neighborhood 56. The underlined phrase “going out of your mind” in Paragraph 2 probably means________. A. becoming very excited B. becoming very worried C. becoming very disappointed D. becoming very relaxed 57. From the third paragraph we can know that________. A. it is important for you to be polite to your neighbors B. people in the same neighborhood are quite different C. people like enjoying themselves on the playground D. knowing your neighbors helps to keep your kids safe 参考答案: 54. D 保证孩子在社区的安全方法很多,但是最为重要的是你要了解邻居的情况。当然了解他们不只是认识他们就足够了,要深入了解他们的职业、性格等。 54. 【小题1】A。主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文主要介绍了如何保护孩子在社区的安全——首先要深入了解你的邻居,故选A项。 55. 【小题2】C。细节理解题。根据第二段中的or the truck that has just driven by the playground looks unfamiliar, but the guy in the passenger seat resides two doors down可知,如果一个人resides two doors down,这个人住的地方和你家隔两家,他应该和你住在同一个社区。
