Unit 6 Movies and Theatre Lesson 31 A Movie or a Play
1. Analysis of the Students The students of Grade 9 have mastered certain vocabularies,expressions and structures. They also have the abilities of self-teaching and working in groups. Most of them are willing to express their opinions in English. 2. Analysis of Teaching Content Lesson 31 is the first lesson in Unit 6, Book 5.This unit focus on the subject Movie and Theatre, also teach the students something about making movies and scrips. Students cares about the subject because it is close to everyone. Lesson 31 mainly talks about the movie and play, to master how to make the movies.
【知识目标】 1. To master the words: involve, script, director, direct, costume, background, task. 2. To master the phrases: take bus, get off, get lost, on the way to 【能力目标】 Improve the students’ ability of speaking, listening, reading and writing. To be able to talk about movie making in English 【情感目标】 Know more about movies and theatre, to realize the necessity of working together to make a good movie. 【教学重点】 To master the words and phrases. 【教学难点】 To understand the meaning of the lesson, meanwhile retell it.

Step 1. Warm-up 1. Enjoy a picture of theatre and explain this word. 2. Free talk: (1) Have you ever been in a theatre? (2) What did you watch? Step 2. Presentation 1. Explain the new words: Teacher elicit the new words by free talk. (1) What do you know about making movies? (2) What do you think is needed to make the movie or play? 2. Show the picture of Ms. Cox to elicit the lesson. 3. Read the lesson and write true (T)or false(F). (1) Most of the students in Ms. Cox’s class have been to a theatre before. (2) Ms. Cox thinks making a short movie or a play will interest the students. (3) We have to take care of lots of things when making a movie or a play. (4) Actors are the people who direct movies. (5) Some background research is necessary before making a movie. 4. Check the answers. 5.
