All petroleum reservoirs experience pressure declines, and most wells require artificial lift at some point, most commonly where reservoir pressure is insufficient for natural flow. Cold fluid injected into the formation can be detected readily by a change in the temperature profile within a wellbore. A series of logging passes usually is sufficient to determine the total treated height.
