T:What changes the situation? S: A computer. Step 2: Warming-up 1. Show some pictures about parts of a computer and ask students to give each an English name. 2. Play a game. Step 4: Discussion 1. Look at these pictures. In pairs discuss what they have in common. 2. What do they tell you about the development of computers? 3. What do you think will be the next development? Step 5:Pre-reading 1. Look at the title of the reading passage. Predict what it is going to be about. 2. Do you know in what ways computers are used today? Work out a list and compare it with your partner. Step 6:Reading 1. Skimming Ask the student to read the passage quickly and answer the question below. 1. Who am I? A. An operator. B. Alan Turing. C. A computer. D. Human race. 2. What’s the passage about? The text mainly tells us a short history of the development of the __________ and its ____________ in different fields. 2. Scanning Read the passage and finish the timeline. 3. Careful reading Read the passage again and complete the chart below. Step7: Post reading Complete the summary of the passage.
