Garden.Fromthemid-1890sshelivedinEnglandatGreatMaythamHallwhichhadalargegardenwheresheindulgedherloveforflowerswhereshemadeherhomeforthenextdecade,althoughshecontinuedannualtransatlantictripstotheUnitedStates.MaythamHallresembledafeudalmanorhousewhichenchantedBurnett.In1907,shereturnedpermanentlytotheUnitedStates,havingbecomeacitizenin1905,andshebuiltahome,completedin1908,inthePlandomeParksectionofPlandomeManoronLongIslandoutsideNewYorkCity.HersonVivianwasemployedinthepublishingbusinessandathisrequestsheagreedtobeeditorforChildrens Magazine.OverthenextseveralyearsshehadpublishedinChildrens Magazineanumberofshorterworks.In1911shehadThe Secret
