The documentary Born in China was shot (拍摄)in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(青藏高原)and shows animals’ lives during different seasons.
It not only brings to audiences the lives of animals that are rarely seen in the wild—giant pandas and Tibetan antelopes(藏羚羊), for example, but also shows traditional Chinese culture. The film mainly focuses on life and love within three animal families—giant pandas, golden monkeys and snow leopards.
A symbol of China, the giant panda is both black and white. Its body is thought to show yin and yang. The panda’s gentle nature(本性)also shows how yin and yang, when perfectly balanced, lead to peace and harmony. This can be seen in the documentary when a giant panda mother guides her baby to gradually look for independence and explore the world.
Monkeys always have strong personalities. The best example might be the Monkey King, a character from the popular novel Journey to the West. On one hand, he stands for impatience. But on the other hand, he shows cleverness and energy. Born in China follows a 2-year-old golden monkey who feels like his life has been changed for the worse by his new baby sister. He quickly joins up with a group of other free-spirited monkeys, but finally returns to his family and understands the meaning of responsibility.
A mother snow leopard faces the challenge of raising her two children in a harsh environment. The leopard, known for their rapid attack and quick footwork, have inspired a form of pictographic boxing(象形拳)in Shaolin martial arts(少林武术).
“Born in China is a way to show Chinese traditional culture,” director Lu told the Binhai Times newspaper. “From five -animal exercises to pictographic boxing, Chinese people have learned from wild animals since ancient times.”
根据语篇内容,选择最佳选项。
39. Why is Born in China special according to Paragraph 2?
A. It shows audiences the lives of animals in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
B. It is considered to be the best wildlife documentary ever made in China.
C. It shows Chinese traditional culture through the lives of animals.
40. How many kinds of animal families are mainly focused on in the documentary?
A. One. B. Two. C. Three.
41. What’s the meaning of the underlined word harmony in Paragraph 3?
A. 和谐 B. 懒惰 C. 斗争
42. Why does the golden monkey leave home?
A. His mother wants him to be more independent.
B. He feels that his sister has changed his life for the worse.

43. What do we know about the snow leopards in the documentary?
A. It was inspired by the novel named Journey to the West.

Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can’t win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure. So we must know how to be a good loser.
When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can’t be avoided in our life. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb (灯泡). When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn’t failed 10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn’t work.
We must accept our failure and learn to take advantage of it. Remember that it can be helpful when we begin to take action to walk out of it and think about how we can improve. If someone else can help, we’ll be lucky enough. Maybe he or she has been through the same experience before. Many people enjoy helping others solve problems. This can greatly save us time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer our congratulations to the winners and share their happiness, we won’t feel sorry when facing our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they will finally win.
Failure is normal in our life. Learning how to be a good loser is important because every failure can teach us ____49____ lessons. When we lose, we should learn to find its ____50____ side. Edison has set a good example for us. Failure can help us to be better when we take action and think about how to ____51____ ourselves. Besides, it will be lucky for us to be helped by others, because this will also ____52____ save us time to learn how to stop making the same mistakes. At last, we should offer to send our congratulations to the winners. To share their ____53____ can make us face our failure more bravely. Anyway, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life.

Feeling like you are under too much pressure? Have you ever lost sleep worrying about tests and schoolwork? Eating on the run because your schedule is just too busy?
You’re not alone. Everyone feels stressed out at times. Comfort Zone is a state(状态)of mind where there is the least stress. Stepping into the learning zone can help to bring out the best in us. Here are the reasons.
News: First Blind Person reaching Qomolangma
Eric lost his sight(失明) in his early teens. He never allowed his disability to stop him. He believed that he could do as well as any teenager. He also challenged himself to climb Qomolangma and succeed in doing what a normal person can not do.
▶ Challenging yourself can help us do at our best. Stepping outside one’s comfort zone is important to personal development. How can we expect to make ourselves better if we only stick to habit and routine(日常)? We should try something we might not succeed at. We may achieve something unexpected after trying it.
▶ 冒险可以帮助我们成长. As children, we’re natural risk-takers. But as we get older and learn to fear failure, we start trying fewer new things. We pay a heavy price for our fear of failure. There is no learning without some difficulties.
▶ Facing new challenges can help us age better. Our comfort zones seem to become smaller as we get older—but if we can keep expanding(拓展)them, we’ll open ourselves up to a greater world as we age. As we step into the learning zone, we will get more comfortable with the skills gradually and we’ll start to move into the comfo
