Traffic Jam
Actually I’m caught in traffic jams every day,so I’ll just describe my daily painful experience to you.I go to work by bus every day at around 7:00.The traffic condition in the morning is relatively(相当地) good,since some people don’t have to get up so early to go to work.But in the evening around 17:00 to 18:00,the major road sand streets drive me crazy.When I was going home from work last Friday,I was stuck in the same place for 20 minutes!The bus I was riding was in front of a major traffic light in the downtown area,where lots of cars and public transports commute(上下班在两地乘车往返).Because of the heavy traffic,some driver got grumpy and impatient and rear-ended(车头撞上车尾) the car in front of his.As a result,all the vehicles behind these two were tragically(悲剧地) hindered,including the bus I was in.The two drivers refused to resolve the conflict in private and thus blocked the road for a very long time,causing terrible traffic jam around the major trafficlights.I got very grumpy and waste a lot of my time.I was stuck on a crowded bus with nothing to do.I was anxious to get home because I had quite a few papers to grade.I hope that the government will soon do something to alleviate(减缓,减轻) traffic situation in my city.

　　 The world itself is becoming much  smaller by using modern traffic and modern communication means . Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but it has brought new problems. One of the biggest is pollution. To pollute means to make things dirty. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Man has been polluting the earth. The more people, the more pollution. Many years ago, the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, man moved to another place. But this is no longer true. Man is now slowly polluting the whole world.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It's bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.
Many countries are making rules to fight against pollution. They stop people from burning coal (煤) in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air.
Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. It is sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is our home. We must take care of it. That means keeping the land, water and air clean. And we must take care of the rise in population at the same time.
