A little railroad engine was working in a station yard, pulling a few cars on and off the switches (道岔).
One morning it was waiting for the next call when a long train of freightcars asked a large engine in the station yard to take it over the hill. “I can’t; that is too much a pull for me,” said the great engine. Then the train asked another engine, and another, only to hear excuses and be refused.
Hopelessly, the train asked the little engine to draw it up the grade (坡道) and down on the other side. “I think I can,” puffed (喘气) the little engine, and put itself in front of the great heavy train. As it went on, the little engine kept bravely puffing faster and faster, “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
As it neared the top of the grade, which had discouraged the larger engines, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, “I — think —I — can. I — think — I — can.” And actually it could. Because of its hard work and determination, the little engine achieved what much bigger engines could not. The engine’s heart was filled with the joy of achievement. “I thought I could. I thought I could,” it said.
This is a very famous story. Don’t you love the brave little engine? No matter how young you are, you can also be like the little engine by simply believing in yourself.

My Kids tell me it’s unfair to play with the big children; I tell them that’s right. The playing field is never even or equal. Your skills and attitude play a major role in the outcome.
Unfairness is a good thing. There is more to be gained by the effort when things seem unfair. It is true that many things in the world are unfair, but unfair things usually benefit you. For example, the early bird catches the worm. It is unfair that the bird that sleeps in misses out on breakfast, but it is nice to know that if he gets up early he is sure to get the worm.
I always try to explain to my kids that complaining about how unfair the thing is will get them nowhere. Instead, make use of it and get on the other side of it. Once you do that you are in the advantage. Above all, you have to focus on gaining the unfair advantage and you have to build your inner strength. When you empower (使强大) yourself, you are gaining skills or abilities, confidence and selfconfidence. You should look at your place in the world. Where do you want to be financially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically? You are creating your own story when you empower yourself.
You can build all the advantages that you need to live the life that you want. If you haven’t yet, you need to make a list of all the things you want to experience in your new life. This will help you focus on building the advantage so that you never have to say that it’s not fair. When you do this, then you will be able to realize that unfairness is a good thing.

Did you know that a bowl of rice could save you iPod if you drop it in a swimming pool by accident? Or that the camera on your phone could tell you what’s wrong with your TV remote control? The experts at Geek Squad have made a gadget (小机件) rescue guide. So, let’s take a look at some of their useful advice.
●How to get more juice out of your phone battery (电池)?
If your battery goes dead but you need to get a number or send one last text, try warming it up. That may give you a tiny bit of power. Take the battery from the phone and rub it between your hands. Then try to start the phone — but use it quickly.
●What to do if your gadget gets wet?
First, try drying it out with a vacuum cleaner. If a vacuum cleaner isn’t at hand, fill a pot or bowl with uncooked rice and put your wet gadget inside. The dry, uncooked rice will absorb all the water and, after a few hours, you should be able to use the gadget. Don’t forget to remove the battery and SIM card before you dry it.
●What to do if your TV remote control stops working?
Get the camera function up on your phone and point the remote at the lens (镜头). When you press a button on the remote, if it’s working then the glass bobble (小球) at the front of the remote will light up when you look at it on the screen of your phone. This is because the screen on a phone or digital camera picks up infrared rays (红外线), even though your eyes don’t. If the glass bobble doesn’t light up, the remote is broken. If it does, the receiving device is broken.
