Those are some of the things we've seen robots offering at the media center of Beijing Winter Olympics. And most of the robots we've seen here aren't made to look human. Instead, they present a wide range of looks. Two of the most advanced robots regularly operate in crowded space. One greets visitors, answers questions and offers to guide people through the crowds. Another one cleans the carpeted hallways of the main press center. 'k speaks to passersby in a woman's voice. It seems to be speaking English. But we carnet make it out well, because it also plays joyful music while its two front brushes are clearing dust and dirt like a futuristic street-sweeper. Don't assume these robots work all hours just because they're robots. They have carefully managed schedules. For example, the snack robots just go around the media center for about 15 minutes every hour-usually only between noon and 17:00. Another kind of robots helps out with logistics(物流) at the media center. These robots can carry up to 300 kilograms of goods, move freely along the relatively empty halls and automatically recharge themselves. They send unique codes through text messages to the receivers when the delivery has arrived. Then they can pick up the goods with the codes. There are even COVID-fighting robots, which move around pre-programmed areas spreading chemicals. Food ordering, making and serving in the dining room are fully automagical too. Reporters from around the world can enjoy various food options here. In short, robots are expected to play an outstanding role in the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics. But the most important goal is to reduce direct contact(接触)between people. 24.What can the robots do according to paragraph 2? A.Sing and dance at the entrance. B. Guide guests in crowded areas. C.Cook and serve in the dining room. D. Deliver goods and recharge automatically. 25.What can we know about the snack robots? A.They look like street-sweepers. B. They show up every 15 minutes. C.They cook food on site for the guests. D.They have pre-programmed schedules. 26. What is the main purpose of employing robots at the media center? A. To reduce direct human contact. B. To promote made-in-China robots. C.To meet the challenge of labor shortage. D.To test the reliability of AI technologies. 27.What is the best title for the text? A. A Wonderful Day at 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics B .Helpful Robots at Beijing Winter Olympics Media Center C. Robots' Important Roles at 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics D. A Unique Robot Show at Beijing Winter Olympics Media Center C The world is getting greener, according to a new study published in Nature this week. Chi Chen, lead author of the study, and his colleagues have been mining data collected by an orbiting NASA camera that monitors green vegetation on Earth's surface, day by day. Even more interesting: They are able to show the exact causes of increasing or decreasing leaf cover in particular areas. In some cold places, increase in leaf cover apparently resulted from global warming. Since the climate is becoming more and more temperate and the growing season is getting longer and longer, the plants are growing bigger and leafier there. “One large area of Brazil lost vegetation. I personally checked the data, and that's because of lack of rain,” Chen said. The most striking changes, though, were the result of human decisions in China and India. Both countries have been getting a lot greener. The greening of India, Chen says, comes from a huge expansion of irrigated agriculture. “Instead of having just crops when it's raining, they also have a whole six months of cropping and greenness when it's not raining,” he saves. “This version of greening isn't really so great for the environment, though. The irrigation drains groundwater, vegetation is wiped away at harvest time and the extra chemicals farmers use produce greenhouse gases.” In China, though, about half of the new leaf cover that Chen detected appears to be the result of a massive reforestation effort. It's a government-supported attempt to prevent disastrous dust storms that resulted from earlier deforestation. “They are really doing a good job,” Chen says. “They have a large and comprehensive tree planting program. Those trees will stay in place, capturing(捕捉) dust and also CO2,the greenhouse gas. They’ll store it in wood, roots and soil, doing their part to slow global warming.” 28. Which of the following best explains the underlined word “temperate” in paragraph 3? A.Warm. B.Wet. C.Cold. D.Dry. 29. What has led to the decrease of leaf cover in the Brazilian area? A.Tree cutting. B.Dry weather. C.Seasonal harvest. D.Desertification. 30.How does Chi Chen probably feel about the greening in India? A.Excited. B.Puzzled. C.Worried. D.Annoyed. 31.What is the last paragraph mainly about? A.The benefits of tree planting. B.The harm of global warming. C.The costs of greening in China. D.The cause of greening in China. D Scientists are racing to study the volcano in Tonga that erupted just before sundown on January 15,2022. “Everything so far about this eruption is really strange,” said Janine Krippner, a scientist with Smithsonian's Global Volcanism Program. “The sound of the explosion, the tsunami(海 啸)waves that followed the eruption and the huge energy of this explosion, which equals to five to six million tons of TNT, are unlike any seen in recent decades.” The sound of the latest eruption could be heard on distant shores around the world. According to Geoff Kilgour, a scientist from New Zealand, water likely has had a hand in it. “Perhaps the recent explosion had just the right mix of magma(岩浆)and water. Either more or less would have led to a quieter explosion,” he said. The tsunami waves that followed the eruption were even stranger. Tsunami waves usually start from the center of the eruption. Yet this time, waves appeared in other places, such as the Caribbean, far earlier than would be expected of a classic tsunami. In addition, as tsunami waves travel further, they usually become weaker. While the waves that hit the islands in Tonga were damaging, they weren't high enough to account for the surprisingly larger waves across the ocean. Although many of the volcanoes in deep oceans usually aren't deadly, the recent event reminds us that how dangerous they can be and that how little we know about them. However, monitoring underwater volcanoes is a complex task. GPS-which is frequently used to track changes in the surface as magma moves underground doesn't work on the seafloor. And obtaining real-time data from seismometers(地震检波器)on the ocean floor is expensive and technologically difficult. The situation in Tonga has also shown how well the Tonga Geological Services(TGS) has dealt with the latest eruption. “They don't have a huge amount of money. They don't have a huge amount of staff,” Janine Krippner added. “But they're asked to do a huge amount and they have done a really nice job to reduce the possible damages.” 32.What can we infer from the second paragraph? A. The volcano was very destructive. B.The eruption was predicted correctly. C.The explosion was unexpectedly quiet. D.Scientists knew nothing about volcanoes. 33.What was strange about the tsunami waves? A.They were surprisingly low across the ocean. B.They became weaker as they traveled further. C.They started from the center of the eruption. D. They appeared earlier in other faraway places. 34. Why is it challenging to monitor the volcanoes in deep oceans? A. It is very expensive to build more GPS stations. B. There are too few scientists hired for the research. C.It is too difficult and expensive to get data on time. D.The undersea volcanoes are too dangerous to be studied. 35. What is Janine Krippner's attitude to TGS' work? A.Skeptical. B.Positive. C.Unconcerned. D.Critical. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Have a look at some of the common myths(误区)about college admissions in the US. 36 Of course, your grades matter. But many students with perfect scores have been rejected because they didn't have anything else to set them apart. Actually, what really matters depends on the classes you took, based on the offerings at your high school. Some schools offer more advanced courses than others, and a B in one of these more challenging courses can signify a higher level of mastery than an A in a grade-level class at a school. 37.Many admission officers look for an upward trend and improvements over time that enable a student to finish strong. The more clubs and activities, the better 38 . Being committed to key interests is more important than joining a lot of clubs. Colleges look for depth and potential leadership, not just participation. For example, your competitive swimming experience and working your way up to team captain add something really important to your strong academic record. Some students simply don't have time for clubs and sports because they might need to take care of younger sisters and brothers after school or hold a part-time job._39 . Ask for a recommendation only from a teacher who gave you an A The best person to ask for a letter of recommendation isn't necessarily a teacher who gave you an A. 40 .You might choose the teacher who taught your most difficult class, for example, or a class you thought you wouldn't like but did. A. Talk to the admission officer in person B. Getting all A's is the most important thing C. Colleges usually measure applicants in terms of test scores D. And don't be discouraged if your grades weren’t good early in high school E. In that case, they would do well to focus on what they get out of such work F. Quality means more than quantity when it comes to extracurricular activities G. It's better to go to a teacher who can show a different side of you to the college 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分45分) 第一节(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A
