The students will be able to:
1. read and pronunce the words in the passage 2b.
2. understand the reading in 2b after answering the questions,filling the charts and making up a conversation.
3. read and retell the reading acording to chart.
4. understand the past tense and use it in the travel diary.

Teaching steps:
Step 1: Before reading
Ask the students :
What did you do on vacation? Did you do anything interesting?
Where did you go on vacation? Did you go anywhere interesting?
Step 2: While Reading (2b)
1. Today we will know something about Jane’s vacation.
2. Read for the first time and answer the questions in 2b.
Did Jane have a good time on Monday? What about on Tuesday?
3. Read for the second time and fill in the chart in 2c.First do it by themselves. Then work in groups to discuss to finish and check the answers.

4. Read for the third time and finish 2d. Complete the conversation about Jane’s trip to Penang using the information in the diary entries.First work by themselves. Then work in groups to check the answers.
5. According to the chart in Step 3, retell the text.
6. Read the passage again and find out the phases or the sentences you can’t understand..Work in groups to expain. If the students can’t work out, the teacher will help them.
Step 3: After reading
1. Work in pairs to practice the conversation in 2d.
2. 2e.Imagine Jane went to Penang Hill again and had a great day. Fill in the blanks in her diary entry with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets.
Step 4: Homework
Finish off Exercise 2 in selfcheck.
