I’m… Learn to greet hi, hello, goddbye ,bye in English. 3. Teaching Difficulty: Be able to read the words I’m hello correctly. 4. Teaching Method: Deductive Approach, Game Approach, Encouragement Approach, Task-based Approach 5. Learning Method: Deductive Approach, Game Approach 6. Teaching Tools: name cards for every Ss, Multimedia computer, CD-ROM, word cards, masks, tape-recorder, tape 7. Teaching hours: three 8. Teaching steps: Step 1. Warming-up: 1. Teach “hello/hi”: 1) T greets the whole class and prompts them to answer. T: Hello. Ss: Hello. 2) T goes around the class, greets some individual Ss and prompts them to respond. T: (shakes hands/waves to the S)Hello. S1: Hello. T: Hi. S1: Hi. 3) Have two pairs demonstrate in class. 4) The class practice in pairs. Ss should greet classmates who are sitting nearby. They can greet person to their left/right, behind/in front of them. 2. Teach “I’m…”: 1) T (points to herself and then her name card, say to class): I’m Miss Zhou. 2) T looks at individual Ss and prompts them to answer(T can point to the S’s name card to help him/her). T: Hello. S1: Hello. T: I’m … S1: I’m… T: Hello. I’m Miss Ning. S2: Hello. I’m… T: Hi. I’m Emma. S3: Hi. I’m… 3) Have Ss say after T: I’m… 4) Train game. The class practice in groups. S1 (to S2): Hello/Hi. I’m... S2 (to S1): Hello/Hi. I’m… (to S3): Hello/Hi. I’m… S3 (to S2): Hello/Hi. I’m… (to S4): Hello/Hi. I’m… 3. Introduce the four characters in the book: Ling ling, Daming, Amy, Sam. 1) T: Today we have some new friends here. (Put the masks of the four children on head) Hi/Hello, I’m Ling ling/Daming/ Amy/Sam. (Take off the masks and show them to the Ss) Look, this is Ling ling/Daming. She/He is from China. This is Amy/Sam. They are from England. They are sister and brother. In the six years at primary school, they will stay with us and grow up together with us. 2) Have Ss say the names and then the sentences after T: Lingling, Daming, Amy, Sam I’m Ling ling/Daming/ Amy/Sam. Hi/Hello, I’m Ling ling/Daming/ Amy/Sam. 3) Have four Ss act as Ling ling, Daming, Amy and Sam before class. S: Hi/Hello, I’m Ling ling/Daming/ Amy/Sam. Step 2. Presentation: T: Today is the first day of the school. Children are very excited. Let’s look at the screen and see who are coming. Please listen carefully and call out the names you hear. Step 3. Text: A1.Listen, point and find “I’m…” 1. Listen and say. Play the CD-ROM . Have Ss look at the screen and listen careful (Do not open their books), call out the names when they hear the names of Ling ling, Daming, Amy and Sam. Ss: Lingling, Daming, Amy, Sam 2. Listen and stand. Play the CD-ROM again. Divide the class in half. One half is “Hi” group, the other half is “Hello” group. If they hear the word “Hi”, the “Hi” group should stand up. If they hear the word “Hello”, the “Hello” group should stand up. 3. Listen and understand the text. Play the CD-ROM the third time. Ss look at the screen, listen and try to understand the text. T does actions and gestures to help Ss to understand. New words and phrases: Show word cards and have Ss to read after T. hello, hi, goodbye, bye, I’m…=I am 4. Open the books. Listen and point to the relevant pictures. T: Class, now I’d like you to open your Books at Page 2. Look at Module 1, Unit 1. Please listen carefully and point to the relevant pictures (T points to the pictures to show the Ss what “point to” means.). 5. Look at the books. Find and circle “I’m…” 6. Listen, point to the sentences and repeat. 7. Read in class. 8. Read in boys and girls. 9. Act it out. 1) Practice in groups of four. 2) Act it out (Give each S a mask when they perform.). Step 4. Homework 1. Greet and say farewell to parents and friends. 2. Introduce themselves to others. Design Board:  Module1 Unit1 Hello! S1: Hello/Hi. I’m ... S2: Hello/Hi.
