一、教材分析
本单元以描述某人的个性特征为中心而展开, 中心话题围绕Talk about personal traits and compare people这个题材开展多种教学活动，从外表和性格两方面比较人物之间的相同与不同点, 由此引出taller, shorter, thinner, longer, heavier, calmer, wilder, quieter, funnier, more athletic, more popular, more serious, more outgoing 等词汇, 以及“S + be + adj.比较级+than+被比较对象”这个重要的句子结构。Section A部分重在要求听说读三个方面比较不同双胞胎之间外表和性格的区别, 附带着在3a也提出了as….as 结构the same as结构表达两人的相同之处。与Section A部分比较, Section B部分则深入到比较自己和朋友的相同与不同之处,从整体上看，section B首先通过语言输入及对话题的讨论达到对词汇，短语 即套语句型等新语言知识的初步呈现，以及对Section A 所学内容的综合运用，进而过渡到语篇阅读和书面表达能力的训练，最终将单元所学词汇及语言结构完全溶于阅读与书面交流之中，并结合新出现的语言内容进一步提高语言表达能力。并提出了“选择朋友”这个话题, 引导学生正确评价朋友, 引导学生结识真正的好朋友。1a-1e是一组完整的听力训练，围绕my best friend这一话题展开，1a-1b在听前让学生讨论好朋友应具备的特质。1c-1d让学生听一段关于好朋友的访谈，关注who is your best friend ? Why do you like him?
Is he different from you in any way ? What do you like about her?
Is she a lot like you? 等几个重要问题。听后1e要求学生利用所听信息重新组织语言的编新对话。
二、学情分析
学生在section A部分已经掌握了运用比较级来描述人物的特征，1a-1e是一组完整的听力训练，围绕my best friend这一话题展开，学生有自己的体验和自己的看法，也有话可讲，但套用句型有难度，需要老师耐心引导，鼓励学生开口说。

Work on 1a:
1. Read each description to the class and ask the Ss to repeat.
What kind of things is important in a friend? Rank the things below 1-6 (1 is most important)
Ask different Ss to copy the six phrases on the Bb. Then read the phrases together.
2. Read each description loudly. In your opinion, which one is the most important? Please rank the things (1-6). You put a 1 after the thing that is most important to you, and put a 2 after the second most important thing and so forth. Now let’s check which things are most important to you.
Work on 1b:
1. Well, every one of you has his own idea. Now please talk about what you think a good friend should be like in groups of four. First read the example dialogue, and then make your dialogue about friends using the phrases in activity 1a.
2. Ss try to write their own sentences.

1. Next you will hear an interviewer talking to Molly and Mary. What are they talking about? When I play the recording for the first time, you just listen carefully and give me the answer. Have you got it? Yes, they are talking about their best friends. Now look at the chart, and write the things that Molly and Mary like about their best friends. You can write only words and phrases.
