Book Five Unit Six lesson41《After an accident》Teaching Case Ⅰ.Teaching background: 1. 九年级(2)班共有学生43人,学生从七年级开始接触英语,专业基础知识薄弱,英语水平和语言习惯较差,但兴趣较为浓厚。 2. 冀教版英语九年级第五册第六单元以生活中常见的一些事故为索引,教会学生学习如何应对和避免一些事故,并学会阐述事故发生的时间、地点、事件以及原因。 3. 采用多媒体教学,图片、视屏等让学生直观的了解并掌握如何有效的预防和处理事故,通过兴趣激发和习题讨论学会表达事件的发生起因、过程以及结果。 Ⅱ.Teaching aims Have the students learn and master the new words and expressions correctly. Have the students act out accidents with their own words. Ⅲ.Teaching keystones Let the students learn the new words and some useful expressions in this lesson. Let the students act out the dialogue. Let the students use their imagination and perform accidents. Ⅳ.Teaching nodus Get the students learn to master the new words and important expressions in this lesson. Get the students to perform accidents with their own words in groups. Each student will pretend to be someone different. Ⅴ.Teaching steps Step1 Lead in The teacher shows the videos to the students. Tell the students that there are many accidents in the world every day and many people are hurt in the accidents. Now ask them to look at the picture and answers the following questions: Can you tell me what did you see? What do you feel? Suggested answers: 1. I saw an accident happen just now. 2. The victim of the accident was badly hurt. 3. The man riding motorbike pretended not to see the red traffic light. 4. He refused to stop his motorbike. 5. A reporter’s job is to report news for newspapers, radio or television. 6. If you listen to my warning, you will be safe. Step 2 Skimming The teacher lets the students skim the text, try to find some useful expressions in this lesson and try to answer the following questions. 1. What are they talking about ? 2. Who does Brian tell Danny to pretend to be ? 3. What does Danny want to say to Jenny an first ? 4. What does Brian tell Danny to do ? 5. If you are Jenny’s friend, what will you say to her? 6. Danny doesn’t listen to Brian’s warning at last, does he ? Is Jenny angry? Suggested answers: 1. They are talking about accident acting. 2. Brian tells Danny to pretend to be Jenny’s friend. 3. “Why didn’t you listen to my warning? Now you’ve had an accident.” 4. Brian tells Danny to be a nice friend and not to be mad. 5. “Are you badly hurt? Don’t be scared….” 6. Danny refuses to listen to Brian’s warning. Useful expressions: accident acting / pretend to be / listen to my warning / had an accident / to be a nice friend / not to be mad / be scared / refuses to … Step 3 Scanning and acting 1. The teacher plays the tape and lets the students follow it while they are reading. Make sure they have no new words this time. 2. The teacher lets the students scan the text, try to get the detailed information and then do the following exercises on the screen. 3. The teacher lets the students get ready to act in groups. Each student gets a role to act. (They are Danny, Jenny and Brian) 4. Suppose the students are journalists. Have them create a list of questions in English that they could ask to find out something about the accident. These questions will guide their research when they prepare their role-play. For example: Did you see the accident? When did it happen? How did it happen? What was the result, was anybody hurt? Badly ? What do you want to say about this accident? Ask the students to write the questions in their notebooks that they think will be most useful. 5. Give the students some safety about traffic accident, and some maxims about it. 6. Have each group discuss “How to prevent accidents at school?” Teacher goes from group to group encouraging the students to discuss their ideas in English as much am possible. Ask them questions to help them make up their dialogues. 7. Deal with the language points. 1).don’t have to do没必要/不必 (needn’t to do sth/don’t need to do sth) 2).pretend to do something 佯装做某事 3). refuse sth/to do 拒绝谋事/去做某事 4). be mad at sb/sth 对..很愤怒,很生气   (be angry with...) 5). Don’t be scared. 别怕 6). listen to one’s warning 听从某人的警告. 7).have an accident  出事故 8) Imperatives: (祈使句) Be a nice friend! Take care of her! Don’t be mad! Step 4 Homework Required (必做) Write a short passage “A Terrible Accident” according to the chart. (What When Where Who How ) Optional  (选作) Make a survey. On November30th, a teacher’s mother was badly hurt by a truck on her way to Xinjuntun. Please make a survey and find out how the accident happened. Ⅵ. Teaching introspection 1. 多媒体教学有效的提高了学生学习的积极性和兴趣,成功的将学生引入课堂主题,通过事例和生活小事,让学生明白了安全工作的重要性。 2. 绝大部分学生能积极回答问题,投入小组活动,并努力完成各项练习,成果较好。 3. 但由于大部分同学英语基础太差,导致课堂重心有所偏移,单词教学花费时间过长,知识深化程度不够。这告诉我,平时辅导及课余时间要培养学生练习说英语,练单词的好习惯,并交给学生一定的记忆技巧和学习方法。
