Zhu was born in a family of farmers. As a young boy, Zhu would help his father do farm work after finishing classes. In 1983, as a first grader in a primary school, he met poetry for the first time in a Chinese class. Since then, he has been in love with poems.
After noticing Zhu’s interest, his father spent some money buying him poetry collections though his family was poor. Although he is busy working during the day, he spends his time at noon and in the evening reading poems. He knows over 1000 poems by heart and the lines help him keep a calm mind.

Confucianism (儒家思想) has been followed by Chinese people for more than two thousand years.
To help people understand how to behave towards others, Confucianism teaches the Five Constants: ren, yi, li, zhi and xin. They are general virtues (美德) around the world. The most important two are ren and li.
Ren is the feeling of care and love we should have for others. Confucius explained ren could be best understood as loving others. He is famous for teaching people “Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you”. It is quite similar to what is known in the West as the Golden Rule (treat others as you wish to be treated).
While the meaning of ren is easy to understand, li is a little harder to express. It can be considered as a kind of duty. Generally, li is the way we should connect with people in our everyday life. In Confucian writings, discussions about li include the proper way to drink tea and how to remember ancestors (祖先). While ren is mostly about our opinions and feelings, li is about how we express our opinions and feelings towards others and towards the world
around us.

Type in “A cat wants to go to space” and ask ChatGPT to write a bedtime story. Just one second later, you’ll get the story of the cat Max, who makes his way to the space after many difficulties and is finally able to sing among the stars. ChatGPT is a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool. It answers questions. And it can write long articles and stories. ChatGPT is developed by a US company OpenAI, and it has taken the Internet by storm, winning 100 million users since it came out in November 2022. People can ask the robot to write stories and emails, create menus, translate
languages, and answer all kinds of questions.
Compared with Siri or other chatbots (聊天机器人), ChatGPT uses a much bigger database (数据库) for training. It also uses stronger software and hardware to learn things by itself. For example, if it provides a wrong answer to your question, you can tell it the right one and it will make corrections. “It’s a totally different product.” the computer scientist Liu Xiaoguang from Nankai University told Tianjin Daily. “The knowledge level ChatGPT shows is almost the same as a university student. That’s why it shocked the world.”
But one big problem with ChatGPT is that it makes mistakes or even gives fake information. When Rezza, a 28-year-old man from Indonesia, used the robot to write a passage, “It gave out unreal academic (学术的) speech.” he said. Since the robot is trained using words from the Internet, it may also have an unfair opinion about certain groups. These are all things that need to be solved.
Although the latest Al product helps a lot, we should still think twice before using ChatGPT for help. Whether that’s a good or bad thing needs to be seen.
37. Why does the writer mention the story of the cat in paragraph 1?
A. To tell a bedtime story.
第 6 页 共 9 页
B. To introduce a funny cat Max.
C. To show how powerful ChatGPT is.
D. To explain how ChatGPT was invented.
38. What is the main difference between ChatGPT and other chatbots?
A. ChatGPT can chat with people.
B. ChatGPT uses big database for training.
C. ChatGPT can provide right answers without any mistakes.
D. ChatGPT’s knowledge level is similar to a university student.
39. What does the underlined word “fake” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. right B. wrong C. expensive D. cheap
40. What does the writer think of ChatGPT?
A. It still needs to be further improved.
B. It is perfect for the academic research.
C. It should be put into practice worldwide.
D. It should be tested twice before being used.
