大家知道drag的意思是“拖拉、拖拽”，heel的意思是“脚后脚、脚踝”，从字面上理解，这个片语就是指“拖住某人的脚后跟，
使其缓慢前进”，所以我们可以把这个片语直接翻译为“拖延某人的时间。” To drag one’s heels is to take too much time
to do something because you do not want to do it. 注意，在英文中有另一个片语：pull one’s leg, 从字面上看，它的意思也是
“拖住某人的腿”，但实际上它的意思是指“开某人的玩笑”，这个片语我们在第59讲已经介绍过。下面是一个例句：
The authorities are dragging their feet over deciding to close the factory, which has polluted the local river.
