Chapter 1 Language
Aims of design
The general aim of English teaching in this stage of junior education is to cultivate the students’ comprehensive ability of using English. Give the student some lively situations and some tasks, in order to maintain an interaction by replying and asking questions.

Analysis of teaching material
The language section of 8Achapter one contains two parts. In this lesson we will mainly learn the first part. That is Find questions. The first part is to ask wh- questions and the second part is to use “a” and “an” correctly.
It is mainly based on the reading material of Chapter one. Let the student use these questions to communicate and find out specific information about a person is the main aims of out specific information about a person is the main aims of this lesson.

Analysis of the students
Students of this age are very active in speaking English. Develop the student ability of speaking is one of the aims of English teaching. We should give them more chances to practice. That is learning by doing, learning by using and using after learning.

Task 1 Warm-up
1. Lead in --- ask some questions about Ss’ daily life.
2. Let Ss retell the passage on Page 3.
Purpose: Check the home wok and lead in the knowledge that we will learn.
Task 2 Competition
1. Show a short dialogue about the letter and let Ss fill in the blanks.
2. Let Ss find out which words we can use for asking questions.
Purpose: Through the competition, let Ss know the important words in this lesson.
Task 3 Discussion
Purpose: Trough the task , let Ss know the each question word can start a question about
a different topic by themselves.
Task 4 Play a game
Show some pictures and let Ss choose the right question words.
Purpose: Through the game, Ss can remember the question words deeply.
Task 5 Find the differences
Show some sentences and let Ss find out the differences.
Purpose: Ss can find out people can give long answers or short answers when they ask questions.
Task 6 Pair work
Let Ss finish the exercises on page9.
Purpose: From doing the exercise, check their understanding and develop the ability of cooperation.
Task 7 Make dialogues
Let Ss use the question words to make dialogues about themselves.
Purpose: Encourage Ss to use English to communicate with each other and improve their ability of speaking.

Do the exercise on page 10 B1 in groups.
Purpose: check their understanding and develop the students’ sense of cooperation.
