　　一。 Programmes for the unit
　　1. Status and Function
　　The topic of this unit is people we admire. In this unit, students learn to talk about famous people----- when they were born and when they started their achievement. The topic is closely related to daily life and students' dreams, so it's helpful to raise students' learning interest and improve students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
　　（1）     In the first period, students learn and practice the target language--- Who's that? That's … When was he/she born? He/She was born in （a year）。 How long did sb. …？ He/She …for …When did he/she start （doing sth.）…？ He/She started … in （a year）。 When did he/she stop （doing sth.）…？ He/She stopped …in （a year）。
　　（2）     In the second period, the pairwork provides students with practice using the target language ----- … … when … … An interview is used to practice How old were you when …？ All the activities are helpful to improve students' reading, writing and speaking skills.
　　（3）     In the third period, students learn some more description words. And they do some oral and listening practice using the target language--- Who's …？ When was he/she born? When did he/she start/become …？ 3b gives students writing practice.
　　（4）     In the fourth period, students learn some new words. The reading activity trains students' ability to use the target language and fill in the blanks using verbs correctly. These activities are useful to improve students' reading and writing skills.
