To give Ss practice in using target grammar in simple conversations. 3a: Go to see a doctor Before Ss do this activity, they should work in pairs or in small groups. Ss may remember the time when they went to see a doctor. They can talk about what happened in the doctor’s. Then ask Ss to look at the information in the chart and complete the conversation. Answers: had a headache; cough; have a cold; stay in bed; drink lots of water; take this medicine Ⅱ. To review and practice writing target language in context. 3b: Brainstorm Ask Ss to brainstorm health problems that Ss might encounter. Elicit and write or project answers on the board. Ask Ss to imagine a health problem, how the problem might have happened, and what advice should be given. Answers will vary Ⅲ. To give Ss practice in writing a conversation using target language. Extend the conversation For stronger classes, the T can encourage Ss to lengthen the conversation between the Nurse and the Student. Ss can work in pairs, and to increase Ss’ level of engagement, the T can select a few different pairs of Ss to role-play the conversations they have written. Answers will vary. Sample writing: Nurse: Are you OK? Student: No, i don’t feel well. I have a bad headache. What should i do? Nurse: You have a fever. You have a bad cold. Student:What should i do now? Should i take some medicine tonight? Nurse: You shouldn’t be in school today. You should go home now, take this medicine, and get some rest. Student: Thank you. I’ll go home right now. Ⅳ. Homework 1.
