Teaching procedures
Step 1 Having a revision and presenting
Hi, attention to the two sentences on the blackboard:
The host is called Ricky.
Ricky was chosen to be the host.
They are passive voice in the simple present tense and the simple past tense.
Today we’ll learn passive voice in the future tense and the present perfect tense.
Questions about Reading:
What does Ricky hope after the charity show?
He hopes that more events like this will be organized to raise money for charity.
We use the passive voice in the future tense to talk about the action which hasn’t taken place yet.
Step 2 Practicing
Questions about the charity show:
The Class 1, Grade 8 students are going to organize a charity show. Daniel is asking Sandy about the detail. Help Sandy answer Daniel’s questions using the passive voice.
When is the charity show going to be held?
Where is the charity show going to be held?
Who will be invited to the show?
Who will be chosen to be the host of the charity show?
How much money will be raised in the show?
What will the money be used for?
Step 3 Discussing
Suppose your class is also going to organize a charity show. Talk about what will be done before the show/in the show/after the show.
Step 4 Presenting
(Show Picture1 in Comic Strip to students again) Why is Hobo holding a microphone? Because he has been chosen to be the host of a charity show.
We use the passive voice in the present perfect tense when the action took place in the past and continues to the present or still has connection
