Step 1:
Ask Ss to look at the screen, and describe the clothes of the two.
1). What is the boy wearing?/ He’s wearing…….
What is the girl wearing?/ She’s wearing……..
Revise the names of clothes: jacket, blouse, shirt, skirt, trousers, shoes, boots etc.
2). What is the tie made of?/ It’s made of…….
What are the boots made of ?
They’re made of…….
3). What clothes styles are they wearing?
The boy is wearing clothes from the 1990s.
The boy is wearing clothes in a 1990s style.
4)．Repeat with other pictures.
Revise the names of clothes: a pair of jeans, dress, trainers, T-shirt, etc.
And the names of materials: cotton, leather, silk, wool.
Learn to use different times in the 20th century, such as1990s, 1980s, 1970s…..
Step 2: The simple past tense
1). Ask one of the Ss to answer teacher’s questions to describe someone with different tenses.
What is Wei Fang wearing today?
She is wearing……..
What did she wear yesterday?
She wore……..
Did she wear……. yesterday?
Yes, she did/ No, she didn’t.
2). Let Ss say the key words in the sentences of the past tense: yesterday, last night, a month ago, yesterday afternoon, last week, … years ago, etc.
3). Let Ss say how to form the simple past tense by adding “-ed” to regular verbs. And we need to recite the irregular verbs by heart.
4). Review how to pronounce the ending of “-ed”. Ask Ss to say the rules.
5). Using the Simple past tense of the verb ‘to be’.
T: I was at home last night.
Where were you last night?
Where was she/he last night?
I/He/She/It was………
You/We/They were……..
Were you at home last night?
Yes, I was./ No, I wasn’t.
Take Ss to read the text on P95.
Step 3:
1). Tell Ss to watch the screen, and then use the adverbs below to show the order of events.
Next, then, afterwards, first, finally
Amy plays table tennis with her classmate.
Amy goes to school at 7:00.
Amy gets up at 6:00.
Amy has dinner with her family.
Amy does her homework.
2 ).Let Ss read the text.
Step 4: Speak up
1).Show some more kinds of pictures about clothes, let Ss describe them with the adjectives: beautiful, colourful, modern, smart, cool; interesting, heavy, old, black, long , etc.
2). Introduce some useful expressions to Ss.
Look colourful, give a talk on…, wear one’s hair in a 1990’s style, have fun, spill sth over…, fashionable clothes, borrow….from…., dress up, cut…into…, finish doing, have a 1990s hairstyle.
5. Writing
Design your favourite clothes, then write an article about it.
