It is on the corner of… It is opposite… 教具 The script & video clips of dialogues. PowerPoint presentation slides of different means of transport. 教 学 环 节 设 计 教学步骤 教学过程设计 教学环节设计 Warming up I. Show students the picture on Page 35 of Unit 4. Ask them to look at the picture and discuss: 1. Where are they? 2. What are they doing? II. Introduce the key themes to students. III. Ask the students to listen to five sentences and match the key words in the sentences with the pictures in Activity ① on Page 36, Warming up. Present the key sentences on the slide and explain their meanings. IV. Ask students to look at the pictures in Activity ②, and then find out the places and road signs in the picture. Listening & Speaking practice (1) I. Ask students to try reading the words in the word box on Page 37. Then ask students to read them after the tape. II. Show the map on page 37. Tell students they are going to listen to some sentences about the places in the map. Give them some advice on listening skills. III. Play the tape twice and ask the students to practice it after the tape. IV. Present the basic sentences on the blackboard: The school is on the Grand Avenue. The bank is next to the school. The bank is between the school and the park. The hospital is opposite the school. The school is on the corner of First Street and Grand Avenue. V. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue in Activity ③. And then ask them to form groups and make dialogues according to the information in the map of Activity ②. Explain the tips on this page to the students. Listening & Speaking practice (2) I. Ask the students to listen to four sentences in Activity ④ and then repeat after the tape. Explain the word block to the students. II. Present the dialogue and explain the word: block III. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue in Activity ⑤. Then ask them to work in pairs and try to find the three places required in Activity ⑤. IV. Show the students a map of Beijing, and write down the following expressions on the blackboard: The Temple of Heaven The Summer Palace Beihai Park Tell the students that they meet a foreigner on the street. He wants to know how to get to one of the places. Ask the students to help the foreigner to find the place. They can tell him to travel by bus, subway but not a taxi. Give each group three minutes to prepare, and then, make dialogues to show them. 教学环节设计 Consolidation I. Present the map of the school. Ask students to ask some questions about the buildings in the map. II. Ask students to draw some maps about the surroundings of his/her home. Students work in pairs, asking for and giving directions. Ask the students to read the dialogue. 2. Ask the students to memorise the vocabulary and sentences. 3. Ask the students to get ready for the description of a map.
