Ⅱ.Translate the following passages into Chinese. ( 21 ) .
The issuance of a letter of credit acts to facilitate international trade in that a bank pledges its credit on behalf of its customer. After signing a contract, the importer requests his bank to issue a letter of credit in favour of the exporter. Assuming that the credit risk is acceptable, the bank opens its letter of credit, which, in essence, says to the exporter : “we, the bank, promise that we will pay you when you submit certain documents evidencing that you have made the agreed-upon shipment.” The bank is in effect putting itself in the place of the importer. It is lending its name and its good offices to the importer so that the exporter can be assured that he will receive payment.
An acceptance credit is a credit available by acceptance, under which a nominated bank is authorized to accept. It must be a usance credit and the draft thereunder must be a time bill drawn on the issuing bank, the advising bank, or any other drawee bank. By accepting the draft under the credit, the accepting bank signifies its commitment to pay the face value of the credit at maturity. The beneficiary will discount the accepted draft with his own bank or in local money market if he wished to get paid immediately.
