一、Teaching process design
Step 1: Warming up and lead in
Greeting and start some oral work with students to create the English speaking environment. I see, now everyone can watch the movie on TV or on the Internet at home. But this is different from watching the movies in the movies theater. I think it is more comfortable and more enjoyable to watch the movies in the cinema than at home. You can hear various persons’ opinions about the movies. So I still like going to the cinemA. Lead in with the topic of this unit by asking students some questions like this:
1.Do you like going to the movies?
2. How often do you go to the movies?
3. What kind of movies do you like to watch?
4.What movie theater do you often go to?
5.Why do you choose that?
While students are answering these questions, the teacher is making a list of the answers on the blackboarD.
Yes—Once a week—New movies—big screens, comfortable seats, friendly service, cheap, popular—close to home, in a fun part of town
Then teach the expressions which are listed on the blackboarD. Next ask students how they choose what movies theater to go to. Finally ask students to look at the chart in 1a and think about which things are important for a movie theater and which things are not important for a movie theater and make their decision.
comfortable seats, big screens, friendly service, cheap, new movies, close to home, in a fun part of town , popular
Important
Not important
After that, ask students what is the most important for a movie theater by presenting the superlative degree.(Finish 1a)
Step 2:Listen and write
As for 1b, let students practice listening. The teacher asks students to focus on the content of the chart in 1B.While the teacher is making the statement to students like this: “Every movie theater has its own character or advantages to attract its customers. Maybe it has the biggest screens; it is the most popular; it is the closest to home; it’s the cheapest; it has the friendliest service; it has the most comfortable seats and so on.” , the teacher is listing the superlative degree on the blackboarD.
big—biggest, popular—most popular, close—closest, cheap—cheapest, friendly—friendliest, comfortable—most comfortable.
Get students to know how to use the superlative degree. Ask students to pay attention to the article “the” located before the superlative degree. Then play the recorder and ask students to listen to the tape carefully and write the name of the movie theater in the chart in 1b from Town cinema, Screen City and Movie Palace. (Finish 1b)

It is the most popular.
