Lesson 2：It is getting warmer!
教材分析
本课是冀教版Book 4的第二课，是一节阅读课。本课通过Wang Mei写给Jenny的一封信，介绍了春天的特征和人们的活动，要求学生学会并运用新的词汇，谈论春天及春天的活动。
学情分析
到八年级下半年，学生对英语语言的学习已经有了一定的基础，词汇量、阅读能力、写作能力都处于上升阶段，如何让学生在难度逐渐增加、词汇量逐渐增大的情况下，保持并提高英语学习的兴趣，是八年级英语教学的关键。
教学目标
语言知识与能力目标
1. 学习词汇：neither，nor, boot, jasmine, blossom, sunshine, Tai Chi, swing；学习短语：neither …nor, winter jasmine, play on the swing, a field trip, 。
2. 锻炼阅读能力。
情感态度与价值观
通过本课学习，让学生体会到春天来了，大地复苏，我们应该以更饱满的热情去迎接新的一年。

Step1 Greetings

Pre-reading
Warming up and pre-reading
T: Class. It’s getting warmer. Spring has arrived in Tangshan. It seems that everything is awake. I feel energetic. ( to a student) T:
Is spring your favourite season? Which season is your favourite? What do you know about spring? What can you say about…?
(give the students some information to help )
Action chain. Ask the students to ask and answer in pairs.

引起学生的兴趣，激发他们的学习热情。

While-reading
1.Skimming
Ask the students to read the passage as fast as they can to find out the the main idea of the passage.
2. Scanning
1)Ask the students to read the passage again to do Exercise 1. Write T or F. Let the students underline the sentences on the book.
2) Read the lesson again and do Exercise2. Tick the sentences mentioned. The students still need to underline the sentences on the book.
3. Word guessing
Ask the students to try to guess the meanings of the new words. And explain how they get the answer.
4. Read aloud. Let the students read along the tape. Try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation.

5. Reciting
In Paragraph 3, Wang Mei gives spring a good description, so the students are wanted to recite this paragraph.

Post-reading

Let the students work in groups and discuss their ideas. Each group chooses one to report their ideas.

Homework
1. Finish Exercise 3.
2. Write your spring plan in your exercise book（30-40 words） and hand it in tomorrow.
3. Recite new words and expressions in this lesson. There will be a dictation tomorrow.

Exercise 3重点检查对本课出现的几个动词的使用，留作课下作业以加强巩固；小篇作文的练习既不会太难又可以把今天的学习上升到写作的训练；背诵生词扩大词汇量。
