Planning a guide to a museum
Unit 1 You mustn’t touch it.
■ Warm up by talking about what a museum is.
Hello, class. Today we shall go to a museum. But first what is a museum? What museums have you been to?
A museum is a building where things are collected and then shown to people. Museums can be about different things such as Natural History, Science, or Art. Museums with live animals are called zoos.
People visit museums to learn, but also to have fun.
■Listen and read.
On page 34 is a conversation between Betty, Daming, Guard, Tony and Lingling. They are talking about museum.
Before we listen to it, let’s go on to read it first. While reading, try to: cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study the predicative, darken the connectives and underline all the useful expressions. (阅读过程中，断开/意群，观察谓语构成，圈出连词，摘录短语搭配。)

■Act out the conversation.
Now you are going to act out the conversation in groups of five. You may not look at the book. The two best groups will be the winners. And they will go to the front to act it out again.
■Talk as they do. (仿说)
Now in groups of five you are going to produce a conversation similar, in structure and in content, to the one we read just now.
Betty: Let’s go to the supermarket. It’s over there.
Daming: Come in! This way! I'm looking forward to this!
Guard: Shh! No speaking loud! It's against the rules.
Daming: But I want to buy some music tapes before we have to go for lunch.
Guard: Wait for a minute! You mustn’t go there! Come back!
Daming: Why is it?
Guard: Look at the sign ——“No entry”.
Daming: Oh! Why?
Guard: It's closed until lunch time. And the Book room as well.
Tony: Oh dear. My classmates and I have got to sing a few new songs at the evening party today. Well, let's go to the post office over there.
Lingling: Why?
Tony: I want to buy some new stamps in it. Where’s Daming?
Lingling: I don't know. He's gone off on his own. Where's Daming?
Tony: Look at this amazing stamp.
Guard: Don't touch! You mustn't touch it.
Tony: Sorry. I'll just take a photo.
Guard: No, you can't take a photo, either. Look at the sign ——“No photography”.
Tony: I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention to what you were saying. I was looking at the wonderful stamp. It looks very attractive.
Lingling: Hurry up! You're taking so long. Let’s go. Where's Daming?
Tony: The stamp looks very nice. It's kind of exciting. I’ll buy it.
Daming: Waaaargh
Tony: ... Daming!
Betty: Oh, you are here!.
Daming: Here it is, Tony. I have bought it for you. I know you like this kind of stamps.
■Act out your own conversation.
Now you are going to act out your own conversation in groups of five.
■ Close up by asking and answering conversation questions about weekends.

5. Why did you visit the place(s) you went to?
