Unit 5 Why do you like pandas Analysis of the Teaching Material 【Curriculum requirements】 In this unit students will learn to describe animals and express preferences about the animals. Students will also learn to use the patterns “Why do you like …? Because they are…, Where are the lions from? They are from…”to talk about the animals. After learning the unit, students will get to know more about the animals and protect the animals around them. Analysis of the Teaching Material: In this class, students will describe animals with many adjectives of quality. Also, we will continue talking about the animals with more information. Teaching Aims and Demands Knowledge Objects: New words: friendly, shy, smart, beautiful, lazy, big, small, cute, ugly, scary, Phrases: be friendly to…, more than(多于) Sentences: What animals do you like? I like dogs. Ability Objects: Students will learn to describe animals with many adjectives of quality and learn to talk about the animals freely. Moral Objects : Students will get to know more about the animals and learn to save and protect the animals around them. Have a dictation of the words and phrases of Section A. 2. Make students express the likes and dislikes about the animals with the target language. Step ⅡWork on 1a. 1. Read the description words and get to know the meaning of each word. 2. Show some pictures and talk about the animals using the words. 3. Work on 1a. Match the description words with the animals. Step ⅢWork on 1b, 1c. 1. Do the listening exercises of 1b and 1c, pay attention to the use of description words. 2. Analysis the listening material and learn how they use the target language. Step ⅣWork on 1d. 1. Role-play the dialogue of 1d. 2. Make new dialogue with the target language according one’s real situation. A: What animals do you like? B: I like elephants. A: Why?
