With the teacher’s help, the students learn to use the irregular verbs and the negative form to describe the past events through pair work and group work. Aids: Power point; recorder; Emotion& Value 1.       Group working can cultivate students’ cooperation that makes them understand the importance of cooperation. 2.       Guide students to deduce study strategies Learning Points The new irregular verbs, and the negative form of the simple past tense, Learning difficulties How to describe past events with irregular verbs and the negative form about their own vacations Learning Methods Task-based, Learning Steps Teacher’s activities Students activities Purposes Step 1 Lead-in Show the Ss a flash and ask the Ss if they went to any places of interest and had a good time during their summer vacation. Step 2. Presentation Show the PowerPoint for Ss to learn the new irregular verbs and the negative form of the simple present Step 3 Listening 1.Get the Ss to listen to the tape ,and give them two questions to answer. Then ask them to finish the listening exercises. And get the Ss to check the answers.   Step 4. Practice Give the Ss some exercises. And get the Ss to help each other in pairs. Ss watch the flash and talk about their travel.         Look at the PowerPoint to learn the new irregular verbs.     1.       Give the answers   2.       Fill in the blanks and check the answers in pairs       The Ss work in pairs to finish the Exx. And discuss the answers to find if there are any mistakes. To engage Ss into the topic         To learn to use the new irregular verbs and negative form to describe past events.   1.To improve the Ss’ listening abilities 2.To get to use the new irregular words. And cultivate students’ cooperation     To practice using  negative form in the past events and cultivate students’ cooperation Learning Steps Teacher’s activities Students activities Purposes Step 5. Writing Ask the Ss: to talk about their own vacations in groups and write down a short passage within 80 words. And then get the Ss to discuss their passages to help each other correct them.         Ss share one of their vacations in groups  and write down a short passage about one of their group mates and work in groups to check if there are any mistakes.       Make the Ss understand the importance of the cooperation and improve their writing abilities of describing past events Home work Homework for today: 1.Write a short passage about your vacation travel within 100 words. 2.Listen to the tape and finish the listening work: Part 1.3 on Page 60 3.    Copy the irregular verbs two lines each. 4.    Finish all the Exx    sheets.   Bb writing   Lesson 42 They went to Rome.
