Ive asked you to preview the words in 1a. Have you got the meanings of them?fascinating, inexpensive, uncrowded, safeS: “Fascinating” means having great attraction or charm. For example, her voice is very fascinating. “Inexpensive” means not high in price, cheap. For example, things in that store are inexpensive. “Uncrowded” means not crowded. For example, the mall is uncrowded during week days. “Safe” means free from danger or injury. For example, dont worry, it is quite safe here. Nobody knows this place.T: Since we know the meanings of these words, lets come to 1a on page 89. Read the instruction and fill in the chart.Check the answers. Then divide the class into two groups and play a word game. T: Now, lets play a game. Boys will be in one group and girls in another. Try to think of as many adjectives as possible and write them down on the blackboard. Lets see which group will win. Step II Oral Practice (1b: P89)Encourage the Ss to practice the words in 1a by making conversations.T: Now work in pairs and make conversations, using the words weve just learned to describe places in your city. Step III Listening and Speaking (2a, 2b & 2c:P89)Ask the Ss to listen to the three conversations and finish the charts in 2a and 2b. Then let the Ss role play the conversations.T: How many people are there in the picture?S1: Six.T: Could you tell me where they are?S2: I think they are in a travel service.T: What do you think they are talking about?S3: I think they are asking for some tourist information.T: OK. Lets listen to the tape to see what they are talking about. There are three conversations. Look at the chart in 2a first and try to catch the key words in each conversation.Play the tape for the first time.Then play it again and check the answers.T: From the conversations, we know that 5 people are tourists, and the other is working for a travel service. The tourists are asking for information about some places. Now lets listen again and write down the places the tourists should go.Play the tape for the third time, let the Ss finish the chart in 2b.
