Lesson 1: What’s wrong with Danny?
Teaching aims:
1. Mastery words:fever, hospital, nurse, weak, spirit
2. Oral words:Sara, abdomen
3. Mastery expressions: wake sb up , have a fever ,deep night ,take sb to …,get dressed ,have (got )a pain, in poor spirits
4. Sentences:What's wrong with.....?,
I don’t feel well. /I’ve got a pain here
My head hurts./ I have a toothache./I have a pain in my head.
I have a dad fever.

Learn some words and expressions about the illness and seeing a doctor.
Teaching strategies and design
1. Use a video and watch a song" Doctor, doctor!" It makes students go into English class easily.
2. Use pictures to teach words: Professor Spirit, weak, pain, hospital, nurse, fever and so on.
3. Cooperative learning
1) The students work together to learn vocabulary and sentence patterns and use them to express and exchange actively.
2) The students work together to use a topic of conversation to practice actively.
3) The students work together to discuss the key words and the main contents of the text.

One is the detection of the first half of the class. Two is to cultivate the students' learning habit.

After Students learn the topic of seeing a doctor, I designed a video conversation. Students watch the video and do exercises

Teaching Procedure:
Step1: Warming up
1. Watch a very funny song” Doctor, doctor!”
Purpose : Make students happy
2.lead in: Ask and answer
1)Look at four pictures. Ask the questions and answer them.
Q: what’s wrong with him/her?
Ss: His/Her _________hurts.
Purpose : Lead in the new lesson.
2)Revision
What's wrong with them?
Her head hurts.=She has a headache.
His stomach hurts. =He has a stomachache.
His tooth hurts.= He has a toothache.
His foot hurts.
3)Show the title.
Look at a picture. Ask and answer
T: what’s Danny doing?
Ss: Danny is crying.
T: What’s wrong with Danny?
Show the title “Lesson 1 What’s wrong with Danny? ”.
Step2: New words
1. fever have a fever=have got a fever
Look at the picture. Ask “What’s wrong with the baby?”.
2. nurse
3. hospital in hospital and in the hospital(show a picture)
4. pain have a pain=have got a pain show a picture. Ask “What’s wrong with him?”
5. weak
6. spirit in poor spirits and in high spirits(show the pictures)

Step4: Reading
1. Read the text loudly.
2. Read the text quickly and answer the questions.
1) What does Danny have for dessert?
2) Who took Danny to the hospital?
3) Who took Danny to a small room?
Discuss the questions with the deskmate.
Purpose: develop reading ability.
Step4: Useful expressions
1. Show the Useful expressions and guess their Chinese.
2. Read the text and find Useful expressions. Then underline them and write down their Chinese.
Step5. Seeing a doctor
1. Show the sentences about seeing a doctor.
2. Suppose you are ill. You go to the hospital to see a doctor.
1) Make up a dialogue with your partner and act it out.
Make a dialogue like this:
A: What’s wrong with you?
B: I don’t fee very well. My head hurts.
A: How long have you been like this?
B: Since last night.
A: Let me take your temperature.
A: Oh, you have a cold .
B: Is it serious?
A: Nothing serious. I hope you feel better soon.
B: Thank you.
2) Practise with their deskmate.
3) Act it out.
Purpose: develop oral English. Encourage students to speak English.
Step6:Exercise
Watch a video, then do exercises “Complete the dialogue” about seeing a doctor.
Step7: Summary
Students work together, then have students to tell everyone.
Step8 Homework: writing
On your way home from school, you see an old woman lying on the road. You try to help her. Make up a dialogue and Write it down.
Step 9: Teaching reflection
1. It can make students very interesting to use video song “Doctor, doctor!”. It can make the students relaxed to go into the class.
2. This class can train students’ abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
3. Creating a real scene can make students take an active part in Dialogue acting of seeing a doctor.
