Teaching Plan Zhao Jin Songzi City, Jingzhou 2012-10-29 I. Teaching content: Unit 6 Do you like bananas? Section B (3a—Self Check) II. Teaching Aids: 1. The multimedia. 2. The blackboard. III. Teaching Aims: 1. Knowledge goals: a. The students will be able to master the words in this unit, especially about countable nouns and uncountable nouns. b. The students will be able to talk about likes and dislikes for food, sports, color about themselves, friends and their parents by using some sentence patterns in this unit. c. The students will be able to improve writing skills with and/but. 2. Ability goals: a. The students can use the key vocabulary and the target language in a realistic,conversational setting. b. They will learn to do self assessment and peer assessment. 3. Emotion goal: They will get to know how to develop a balanced diet and know about the food culture in Jingzhou to enjoy healthy life. 4. strategy goals: a. Studying in pairs. b. Personalizing. c. Classifying. IV. Teaching key points: 1. The students will learn how to write a passage according to a survey. 2. They will do a survey by using some sentence patterns about like in different activities. V. Teaching difficult points: 1. How to write a passage correctly by using key sentences. 2. How to do self check and peer assessment in different but effective ways. VI. Teaching procedures: Step1: Lead in The students will get a beautiful song to talk about some food. Step2: Revision We will play a memory challenge game to review the words, and then let them say some sentences with like or don’t like, opposite to what the teacher said. Step3. Activity 3a a. Require students to guess what I like for lunch/dinner by asking a question like this: Do you like …? b. Ask students to fill in the chart about what I like/ don’t like for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then do a report. c. Do a survey by asking and answering in pairs .Then do another report. Step4. Writing in 3b ·Pre-writing: They will pay attention to something important by reading an example of composition. ·While-writing: Ss practice writing individually. ·Post-writing: First they will get an example about how to assess other’s writing, then it’s time for peer assessment, then correct some typical mistakes together. At last, let’s see how many smiling faces you can get. Step5. Self Check a. Do self check 1, then check the answers one by one. Ask the Ss to draw a smiling face for himself or herself if he/she is right. b. They will learn to read the pronunciation of s/es on page 74. c. By learning about Yao Ming’s food and Bajie’s, they will understand it’s important to keep a balanced diet and sports. d. Work in pairs to talk about the sports and color you like and dislike. e. Make a real interview on “What sports/color/food does your parent like?”. Step6. Appreciate the typical food culture in Jingzhou together with the Ss. Step7. Blackboard Design Unit 6 Do you like bananas? I like…, but I don’t like…. He/She likes …, but he /she doesn’t like ….
