I want to be an actor

Hello! I’m from Hanjiang Middle School. Today I’m very glad to have an opportunity to talk about my teaching ideas. The topic of this unit is “I want to be an actor”. Students will learn the names of the jobs and how to ask for jobs. This lesson is the first period of unit 4 section A 1a-1c.
There are five parts in the teaching plan: they are Analysis of Teaching Materials , Analysis of Ss, Analysis of teaching methods, students’ learning strategies, Teaching procedures.
Part I Analysis of Teaching Materials
In this unit, the teaching materials are designed to make students learn some new words about jobs and professions , and ask for jobs . It is very important for the students to improve their listening and speaking abilities. It’s helpful to communicate with each other in the real life situation freely.
1. Knowledge Aims: Ss will learn some new words about jobs , such as shop assistant, doctor, reporter…and the target language : What do you do? I’m a doctor. What does he do? What does she do?
2. Ability Aims: improve listening and speaking abilities by talking abut people’s jobs, using the target language.
3. Aims of moral education: by talking about people’s jobs, Ss have to study hard if they want to have their dreams come true.
The important points:
1. Master the names of the jobs: actor, doctor, reporter, waiter, teacher, policeman, policewoman, shop assistant, bank clerk, hospital.
2. Target language:
(1) What do you do? I’m an actor.
(2) What does he/she do? He /she is a reporter.
The difficult point:
1. Master the difficult words: shop assistant, bank clerk.
2.The transformation of the third person singular.
Part 2 Analysis of the students
Junior students in Grade 7 are active, lively, and independent. They’re interested in the new things. Ss have learned some words of jobs before. It’s not difficult for the Ss to grasp the new words. But listening and speaking are difficult for many students, so practicing is more important.
Part 3 Analysis of the teaching methods

Part 4 Analysis of learning strategies
﹙1﹚“Experiences---Practice---Reflection--- Feedback” is the best way for the students to learn . I’ll show the target language step by step .Just like Warming up --- Pre-task ---While-task ---Post-task
﹙2﹚Pair work. The aim we learn English is to communicate with others, so in the English class, it’s very important for us to practice communicating abilities. They have to work in pairs to make a conversation about their own situations.

Part 5 Teaching procedures
Step 1. Preparation

2. Brain storm : What kind of jobs can you think of ?
Step 2. Presentation
1. What do I do ? You're a teacher .
2. What do you do ? I'm a student .
3. What does he/she do ? He/She is a student .
Step 3. Learn the names of jobs
Show the pictures and learn the new words
Step 4. Play a guessing game
Guess the jobs : What does he/she do ?
Step 5. Play a memory game
Who can say the jobs quickly ?
Step 6. Practice
Ask and answer in pairs
Step 7. 1a
Match the words with the people in the picture . Then check the answers .
Step 8. 1b
Listen and number the people 1-3 in the picture above .
Step 9. Production
Make a survey:

What does your father/mother/uncle/aunt do?
