Step1 Reading before class
Read the new words on Page39-41.
Step 2 Checking
Get the students to read these new words.
Step3 Presentation
1.Teacher says: I’d like to ask some questions about your town.
What’s your favourite place in your town?
How do you get there?
How far is it from your home to the town centre?
Who’s famous in your town?
What food is famous in your town?
2.Tell the students :When we speak English, we often stress important words and don’t stress less important words.
Important words: nouns, main verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
Less important words: articles, prepositions, pronouns and conjunctions.
Step4Presention
Teachers says: I think…reads English very well. We can read the sentence in different ways.
Teacher says: We can stress different words to show that they’re important information.

Task
Step1 Presentation
Teacher says: Do you like the town you live in? Do you like your hometown? Are people here very friendly? Do they often help each other? Do many people drive cars to go to work?
2.Introduce John’s hometown to students. Read the notes and answer the questions.

Step2Practice
Teacher guides students to learn John’s script. Learn useful expressions.
Step 3Writing
Teacher says: Whose hometown is better, yours or John’s? Now please write an article about your own hometown. What should you write in your article? Please make your own notes.
Get the students to discuss in groups.
Then teacher says: It’s your turn now to write an article to introduce your hometown. Please work in groups of four and use the ideas you got just now.
