Have students exchange their homework exercises with a partner, Help correct each other’s mistakes. Then get different students to say their sentences to the class. Step Ⅱ Part 6 This activity provides writing and oral practice using the target language. Call students’ attention to the chart. Ask students to read the questions. Say. Please write down your own answers in the first colum in the chart. Get students to complete the task individually. Point out the sample conversation in the box. Invite a pair of students to read it to the class. SA: What would you do if you found a wallet? SB: I’d open it and look for a phone number. SA: Really? I’d give it to the police. Write the conversation on the black board. Say, Now please interview two classmates about what they would do and write their answers in the second and the third co1umns in the chart. Get students to complete the task in groups of three. As the groups work together, walk around the classroom to make sure all the students know how to fill in the blanks and offer language support as needed. Get different students to report their results like this: Li Lei says that if he found a wallet, he, would open it and look for a phone number. While Wei Ming says he would give it to the police. Answers will vary. Step Ⅲ Part 7 This activity lets students work in pairs to practice writing and speaking skills. Tell students to look at the pictures. Focus attention on the list of numbered blank lines. Invite a student to read the sample answer to the class. Say, Picture 1 looks tike a man riding a horse. Ask, Does it look like anything else? What about the other pictures? Now please write your ideas for each picture on the blank lines. Get students to complete the task individually. Point out the sample conversation in the box. Invite a pair of students to read it to the class finishing the B response. SA :It might be a man riding a horse. SB :I agree. But it could also be a map of islands. Write the conversation on the blackboard. Please discuss your ideas for each picture with your partner. Get students to practice in pairs. Walk around the room to make sure that students discuss the topic in English and offer help where necessary. Ask several pairs of students to share their answers as conversations with the class. Sample answers 1. It might be a man riding a horse. It could be a map of islands. 2. It might be a vase. It could be two faces. 3. It could be an old woman looking down. It might be a young woman looking away. Step Ⅳ Part 8 This activity provides writing and oral practice using the target language. Point to the list of questions. Ask a student to say them to the class. Say, Please write down your answers on the blank lines. Point out the sample answer. Get students to complete the task on their own. Point out the sample conversation in the box. Invite a pair of students to say it to the class. SA: Have you ever been to another country? SB: Yes, I have. SA: Which country have you been to? SB: I went to Vietnam last year. Write the conversation on the blackboard. Now work with a partner. Ask your partner these questions and try to find out more information as in demonstration. Pay particular attention to different verb tenses. As students work in pairs, move around the classroom offering language support as needed. Have several pairs of students say their conversations to the class. Answers will vary. Step Ⅴ Summary In this class, we’ve practiced talking about imaginary situations using the target language. We’ve also reviewed the words must, might, could and can’t and different verb tenses. Step Ⅵ Homework 1. Reread the conversations in Activities 6,7 and 8 for a further understanding of the target language. 2. Finish off the exercises on pages 18~21 of the workbook. Step Ⅶ Blackboard Design Review of units 1~5 Target language: 1. A: What would you do if you found a wallet? B: I’d open it and look for a phone number. A: Really? I’d give it to the police. 2. A: It might be a man riding a horse. B:I agree. But it could also be a map of islands. 3. A: Have you ever been to another country? B: Yes, I have. A: Which country have you been to? B:I went to Vietnam last year.
