It’s a story which has been locked away in my heart since I first read it through my tears. A blind man as well as his beloved dog lost their lives in an all-at-once car accident. Had he not protected his master, the dog wouldn’t have died. The angel announced that only one of them could go to the heaven as there was no more space. The man asked the angel whether he himself could decide who would go to the heaven, considering the fact that his dog had not the slightest idea of heaven or hell. ‘Of course not!’ the angel replied in a disgusted voice. ‘Every soul is equal in heaven. Whoever can run to the gate of the heaven first will have the honor to go to the heaven. But still,you don’t have to worry.’ said the angel. ‘You are no longer blind since you are dead now. The purer the soul is, the faster it can run. Hearing that, the man started to walk towards the gate in a surprisingly slow pace, followed by his dog in the same slow pace. ‘How evil the man is!’ thought to the angel. ‘He doesn’t have to worry,for the dog has already formed the habit of following his master’s instructions. The only thing the master has to do is to give an order in front of the gate ,and the dog will stop . Finally , they came to the destination. Out of the angel’s expectation, the man said in a hoarse voice:’Now,my task to send him to the heaven has been finished because I’m afraid he is not willing to go to the heaven by himself. How I desire to watch him longer! This is the first time I can see him with my own eyes. The long road has brought back all the weal and woe when we stayed together. But now, I have to be confronted with the anguish of losing my beloved friend.’ After saying these words, the master finally dropped in the direction of hell. Just at that moment, however, the soul of the dog quickly flew in the same direction. Try as the angel might, she couldn’t catch up with the dog since it was the purest soul in the world. Suddenly, and truly, the angel finally understood that they were two souls that could never be parted.
