Teaching aims:
1. Help the students to know the writing steps clearly.
2. To master the key points of writing a composition.
3.To arouse students’ interest in writing, get students to enjoy the achievements of writing
Key and difficult points:
1. Help the students to know the writing steps clearly.
2 Make sure the students can pay attention to the evaluation of a
composition while writing
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Free talk
What’s the date today? May Day is coming. What are you going to do during the holiday?
Step2. Preparations before writing
1. Show one student’s composition, and correct the mistakes. Let Ss learn about some writing skills and understand the importance of writing carefully.
2. Present a writing material.
① Help the students analyse the material to let them know what to write.
② Outline the composition to organize the main ideas.
Step3 Oral composition
1.Help Ss get to know what words and patterns they need to use.
2. Understand which tense to use.
3. Try to make Ss have a strong desire for writing.
Step4 Preliminary composition
1. The teacher should be patient enough to let the Ss write.
2. The teacher should help some Ss who are weak in English.
Step5. Evaluation
1. Ss can help each other correct their mistakes.
2. Show one student’s writing and check it together.
Step6. Rewriting
Encourage Ss to write their compositions again so that they can have a perfect one.
Step7. Homework
Practise writing a composition according to the material the teacher has given them.
