21.(6分)Kendrick Lamar hasn’t had much luck when it comes to winning a Grammy. But that’s OK:The US rapper(说唱歌手) has just won a Pulitzer Prize for his music.
In 2014, in 2016, and again this year. Lamar was nominated (提名)for an album of the year Grammy. Each time, he was beaten out, first by Taylor Swift, next by Daft Punk, and most recently by Bruno Mars.
But the Pulitzer Prize committee was inspired enough by Lamar's 2017 album, Damn, to award the 30-year-old its Pulitzer Prize in music on April 16. It's an amazing album that documents the real life of modem African-Americans in South Los Angeles with wildly accomplished beats and rhythms.
Lamar's win is considered to be historical. 'The Pulitzers have long displayed their preference toward high art rather than the pop culture of the masses. So it's not just that no rapper has ever won a Pulitzer: no pop music maker has ever won one in the award's 75-year history.
But Lamar is not just a singer一he's clever at using language. Like the best writers, his music describes small moments that illustrate (阐明) larger points. His songs are About his experience as a black man who grew up in California, struggled, got into trouble, and found his way out by working hard and making sense of the history and reality of racial problems in the US.
“He’s an artist who challenges idea,”said Ryan Coogler, director of the blockbuster(大片) hit Black Panther, for which Lamar created music. "One big theme in our film of,' What does it mean to be African?’ Kendrick in his music is very exactly and directly challenging that question."
Good artists entertain us, great artists make us think, and exceptional artists help us empathize (感同身受) .
There are a lot of good, great, even exceptional artists in rock, pop, country, and hip-hop. But only Lamar has a Pulitzer Prize.
1、What is Lamar’s album Damn about?
A.African-Americans’ history and culture.
B.Hardships of the African-American artists.
C.The ways the US government deal with racial problems.
D.The lives of modern black people in South Los Angeles.
2、Why is Lamar's Pulitzer Prize win significant?
A.He is the first film-maker to win the prize.
B.It is considered a milestone for pop music.
C.He is the first black person to win the prize.
D.He has missed Grammy several times before.
3、What can we learn from Ryan Coogler's words?
A.Lamar drew inspiration from his own experience.
B.Lamar has the courage to take on big challenges in life.
C.Black Panther is well known because of Lamar 's music.
D.Lamar's music matches the theme of Black Panther well.
22.(8分)Whizzfizzing Festival
As one of the Home Counties to the north and west of London, Buchinghamshire is known for the rolling Chiltern Hills, its pretty villages, and the much-loved children’s author Roald Dahl.
The writer who penned Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, Matilda and The Big Friendly Giant is the inspiration for the Whizzfizzing Festival, which will transform the market-town of Aylesbury into all kinds of music, color and fun on Saturday, 1 July.
Formerly known as The Roald Dahl Festival, this year’s event will involve a broad range of children’s films and bring to life some of their best-loved characters — from Alice in Wonderland and Gruffalo to The Big Friendly Giant and Harry Potter.
Things to See and Do
The festivals start at 11 a.m. with a colorful children’s parade. More than 650 local school children and teachers, many in fancy dress, will march through the town carrying giant carnival puppets(木偶), with thousands of audiences lining the street to watch.
The parade will be followed by a range of child-friendly activities and workshops held in venues across the town.
Don’t be late for the Mad Hatters Tea Party in the Bucks County Museum, catch a splendid screening of a Roald Dahl film in the Old Court House, watch leading children’s authors, including Julian Clary, and read in the Market Square.
CBeebies’ children’s chef Katy Ashworth will once again cook up a storm with her interactive Concoction Kitchen, located outside Hale Leys Shopping Centre. Little chefs will have lots of opportunities to get involved in preparing, cooking — and best of all, tasting — Katy’s wonderful dishes.
With hands-on arts and crafts workshops, storytelling sessions, live music, a fancy dress competition, street theatre and more, there is something for everyone.

24.(8分) My college experience included this life-skill lesson: Drink alcohol on a full stomach. Or you will get inebriated too quickly. Of course, most college students shouldn’t be drinking at all, but we know from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that close to 60 percent of college students aged 18 to 22 do consume alcohol, which makes harm-reducing approaches important.
Unfortunately, campus authorities and researchers are reporting a practice that turns the full-stomach drinking strategy on its head: rather than filling up before a night of partying, significant numbers of students refuse to eat all day before consuming alcohol.
This is a high-risk behavior called “drunkorexia,” which is one part eating disorder, one part alcoholism—a very dangerous combination for college-age students. The term drunkorexia, which can also include excessive exercise or purging before consuming alcohol, was coined about 10 years ago, and it started showing up in medical research around 2012. Drunkorexia addresses the need to be the life of the party while staying extremely thin, pointing to a flawed mind-set about body image and alcoholism among college students, mostly women.
Imagine this scenario: A female college freshman doesn’t eat anything all day, exercises on an empty stomach, then downs five shots of tequila in less than two hours. Because there’s no food in her system to help slow the absorption of alcohol, those shots affect her rapidly, leading to inebriation and possibly passing out, vomiting or suffering alcohol poisoning. That’s drunkorexia.
Tavis Glassman, professor of health education and public health at the University of Toledo in Ohio, researches drunkorexia and worries about scenarios such as the one described above: “With nothing in her system, alcohol hits quickly, and that brings up the same issues as with any high-risk drinking: getting home safely, sexual assault, unintentional injury, fights, hangovers that affect class attendance and grades, and possibly ending up in emergency because the alcohol hits so hard,” he says.
“Alcohol can negatively affect the liver or gastrointestinal system, it can interfere with sleep, lower the immune system and is linked to several types of cancers,” Hultin says.
1、What does the underlined word “inebriated” in paragraph 1 mean?
A.excited B.overwhelmed C.addicted D.drunk
2、We can infer from the passage that ____________.
A.a large number of college students spend most of their nights partying
B.some college students refuse to eat before drinking alcohol to keep slim
C.There is a direct link between body image and consuming alcohol
D.female college student is more likely to be hurt if she drinks alcohol
3、Which of the following may Tavis Glassman agree with?
A.With more food in one’s system, he may suffer from the effects of alcohol slowly.
B.Drinking five shots of tequila in less than two hours is the performance of drunkorexia.
C.Those who don’t attend classes and have lower grades tend to be addicted to alcohol.
D.Alcohol has negative effects on the immune system and may lead to several cancers.
25.(10分)Three divers enter a hole leading to a water-filled cave on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. They swim for an hour. Finally, they reach a large room 60 feet underground and about the size of two basketball courts. Here, they discover an upside-down human skull (the bones of a person’s head). Other bones lay nearby.
The team came across the skull in 2007. The divers then told the Mexican government about the finding. Soon the government formed a team of scientists to look into it. The group, which included archaeologist (考古学家) Dominique Rissolo, believed that the skull belonged to someone who lived in the last ice age. At the ice age’s height some twenty thousand years ago, sea levels dropped and new land appeared. Over time, rain and wind ate holes into some of the land.
“The person may have died after entering the cave,” Rissolo says. Then, when the ice age ended some ten thousand years ago, sea levels rose. Water flooded the cave, covering the remains.
Worrying that moving the skull might destroy it, scientists decided to examine it at its watery resting place. They collected information about the skull and other pieces of bones. They found that the bones belonged to a 15- to 17-year-old girl who lived at least twelve thousand years ago. The team named her Naia after some sea creatures in Greek myths.
Naia is the oldest nearly complete human skeleton (骨架) ever found in the Americas. DNA tests showed that she’s a d
