Teaching procedures:
StepⅠ. Pre-speaking (8 mins)
1. Ask Ss some questions:
Q1. Do you like to see movies?
Q2. What’s your favorite movie?
Q3. Who is your favorite movie star?
2. Introduce some knowledge about Oscar:
(1)What is Oscar?
(2)When and where does Oscar take place?
(3)For what are the Awards given?
(4)Ask Ss to tell some famous actors or actresses or movies that have won the Oscar.
StepⅡ. While-speaking (20 mins)
1. Interview:
(1) Video: Play a video of Meryl Streep, ask Ss to write down some information.
(2) Ask Ss to look at the short biography of Meryl Streep. Suppose if they interview her, what questions they would ask according to the biography and the video. Let Ss discuss in groups and collect as many questions as possible. Then ask some groups to say what aspects their questions are included.
(3) Fill in the following chart together:

(4) Role play: invite some Ss to act as the actress, and other Ss act as the interviewers, and then they can interview her with their questions. The interviewees can only look at the chart.
2. Description:
(1) Video: show a video of Tom Hanks.
(2) Show a resume of Tom Hanks. Ask Ss to describe him with their deskmates, and then let some Ss present their descriptions.

Step Ⅲ. Post-speaking (10 mins)
1. Guessing game: ask some Ss to describe their favorite movie stars, and let other Ss guess who they are. If they still have no idea, they can ask some questions about the stars.
2. Discussion: discuss the question “What is needed to be a famous movie star?” in groups.
StepⅣ. Optional activity and homework (2 mins)
1. Competition: invite some pairs, one describes the stars shown on the screen, and the other guess who they are. The pair which guesses the most is the winner.
2. Homework: collect some information about Steven Spielberg’s movies, and prepare a short biography of Steven Spielberg.
