Language Targets Students have to master the following sentences, learn to make requests and apologize by using them. eg: a. --- Would you mind cleaning your room? --- I’m sorry. I’ll do it right away. b. --- Would you mind not playing baseball here? --- Sorry. We’ll go and play in the park. c. --- Would you mind moving your car? --- No, not at all. / Certainly not. 3. Language Structure Would you mind +doing sth. Would you mind +not doing sth. Would you mind one’s doing sth. 4. Important Vocabulary Turn down, right away=at once, in a minute=in a moment, put on sth. 5. Learning Strategies and Thinking Skills a. self-examination b. in-class and after-class exercises Part Three. Teaching Steps Step One Duty Report Step Two Introduction Give some situations and introduce the following sentences: It’s very hot. Would you mind opening the window? / My English book is on the ground. Would you mind picking it up for me? / One of the students is ill. Would you mind calling up her mother? etc. Step Three Give some key phases 1. turn down + sth.= turn sth. down (turn up, turn on, turn off) 2. right away = at once 3. in a minute = in a moment 4. put on sth. / wear +sth. / dress sb.or oneself Step Four Listen to the tape and finish 1b in SectionA, and check the students’ answers. Finally, students read these conversations after the tape . Step Five Practice Make some conversations with the materials in 1b with your partner, then ask some pairs to act them out. Step Six Listen to the tape and finish 2a and 2b in SectionA. Then check the students’ answers together. At last, ask them to read the conversations after the tape. Step Eight Play a game Ask ten students to stand in the front of the classroom. The teacher will give each student one card with a phrase in it .When the teacher reads the phrase ,the student who holds it should be down and the two students beside him/her should read out each other’s phrase and the faster one will be the winner. And every winner will get a prize . Here are some requests: not open the window clean the blackboard get up early not sing a song read the text jump three times lend me a book give me some drinks not sweep the floor buy me a souvenir Part Four Summary Make requests and apologize.
