Teaching process:
Step 1 Warm-up and revision
Free talk: What’s your favourite food? Do you like …? Then listen to a chant:
Dog, dog, I can run after you…
Step 2 Presentation
1. After the chant, teacher asks: The dog can run after you. The … can…The …can…
They can do many things. So I think they are helpful. ( Present “helpful” )
2. Practise the word “helpful”.
3. T: Are you helpful? What can you do? ( Present “What can you do? I can…” ) Students will give many answers such as “ I can read. I can jump…” Then present the new phrases: water the flowers, clean the bedroom, cook the meals, empty the trash.
4. Listen and read.
Step 3 Practice
1. Read the phrases quickly. As the same time help the students try to remember the new phrases according to their pronunciation or comparing with they have learnt before.
2. Play a game.
3. Practise the sentences in groups of four.
Step 4 Consolidation
Write the phrases.

1. Ask and answer quickly:

2. Listen and tick:
Play the tape and get the students to circle the correct picture.
3. Practise a short dialogue.
Play the tape and get the students to listen first, then practise in pairs or ask some pairs to act it out.
Step 4 Consolidation
Remember the phrases.

Step 1 Warm-up and revision
1. Listen to a song.
2. Free talk:

Step 2 Presentation
1. T: Now, let’s listen to a dialogue then answer the question: What can Amy do?
Show the pictures and teach the new phrases: wash the clothes, put away the clothes, set the table, do the dishes and make the bed
At the same time help the students to try to remember the new words according to their pronunciation or comparing with they have learnt before.
2. Listen and imitate.
Step 3 practice
1. Read the phrases quickly.
2. Do a chant
Get the students to look at the pictures around the chant and say the phrases: cook the meals, water the flowers, wash the clothes, make the bed, sweep the floor and empty the trash
3. Play the tape and help the students to learn the chant.
Step 4 Consolidation
Help the students write the phrases.

Teaching aids:
1. The recorder together with its tape.
2. Some pictures.
Teaching process:
1. Do a chant.
2. Show the pictures and get the students to listen and say the phrases, at same time encourage them to spell the new words.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Let’s try:
Play the tape and get the students to link.
Then help the students answer:
What can Wu Yifan do?
What can Sarah do?
2. Present the sentence pattern: Can you…? Help the students understand its answer: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
Step 3 Practice
