Unit 1 Do you collect anything?
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Language knowledge:
Key vocabulary: collect, collection, tidy, tidy up, doll, fan, stamp, untidy, least, take up, all the time, be interested in, interview
Key sentences: Do you collect anything? / What do you collect? /
What’s your hobby? / My hobby is collecting…
2. Listening skill: To understand conversations involving talking about one’s hobbies. Improve the students’ listening ability.
3. Speaking skill: To use the key words and sentences to describe their hobbies.
4. Writing skill: To be able to write a report about other’s hobbies.

Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Warming up and lead in (2’)
1. Greeting. Talk about students’ likes and dislikes.
T: In my spare time, I like listening to music. What about you? What do you like doing?
S: I like…
T: So your hobby is…
设计意图:作为本书第一节课,从学生如何支配空余时间入手,谈论他们喜欢与不喜欢的事情,逐步引入主题。
Step 2 New words learning (5’)
1. Guess what their English teacher’s hobby is.
T: My hobby is collecting something.
What do I collect?
I collect stamps. I have a collection of stamps.
2. Talk about what else other people collect and show the picture of some new words:
设计意图:通过猜测教师的兴趣爱好及谈论其他人的收藏物品,完成新单词的教学,为下面的听力作好铺垫。
Step 3 Listening (5’)
1. Preparation for listening (pair-work: ask the students to ask and answer the key sentences with their partners)
T: I collect stamps because it is interesting and takes up the least space. But it’s a bit expensive. What about you? Do you collect anything? What do you collect?
S1: Yes, I do. I collect…
S2: No, I don’t. My hobby is…
2. Listen to the first material and complete the chart.
4. Call back the answers from the whole class.
设计意图:通过互相提问以掌握重点句子,并在常规听力练习中进一步提高学生听的能力。
Step 4 Listen and read (10’)
1. Show the following. Listen to the second material and match.
Lingling’s hobby music
Daming’s hobby fans
Sally’s hobby going to Radio Beijing
Sally’s plan. tickets
2. Listen and repeat the conversation.
3. Get to write down the answers in Activity 4.
4. Read the conversation together loudly. Show some comprehension questions. (Activity 5)
6. Read in a group of 3.
设计意图:通过对话的听读操练,增强对目标语的输入,在大输入量的基础上,为后续的输出做准备。匹配题和问题的设置帮助学生能较好的完成Activity4&5。
Step 5 Practice and consolidation (4’)
1. Show time: Talk with your classmates about his or her hobbies to find out if he or she has the same hobbies as yours. Then make a report in front of the class.
2. Open your mouth:

My hobby is listening to music.
My hobby is collecting dolls.
My hobby is to collect dolls.
3. Make a report.
设计意图:通过学生自主讨论最终形成报告,让学生运用有关“兴趣爱好”句型,在用中巩固。非单调地反复,而是有意义地使用,体现“做中学”的理念, 加强目标语的训练和加大语言的输入和输出量。
Step6 Extra Task (10’)
A questionnaire: What is good hobby? (Discuss with classmates then talk about it.)
设计意图:通过学生讨论“什么是好的爱好”引导学生培养健康的向上的兴趣爱好,并让学生形成口头及书面报告,让学生产生有意义的输出,使语言的运用最终落实于篇章之中。
Step7 Exercise (3’)
设计意图: 让学生了解中考题型,巩固课堂上的重点,并知道在本课堂学了什么。
